My dad just had surgery for that CCTX. Two major types:
The first type is fairly easy to remove through surgery (they go up through the urethra, not pleasant, but at least you are not getting cut open). The main problem is that it generally reoccurs again and again. Always treatable, but it winds up being expensive because of the recurrence. Survival rates for this type of cancer are very high (especially if caught early).
The second type is much more aggressive and requires major surgery. The prognosis here isn't so great.
Your dad will likely start with the surgery outlined in type one, from there they will figure out which type he has. I think something like 80% of all cases are type one.

Thank you. Yes, all signs are currently encouraging for less radical surgical options.

Dad's surgery is planned for Friday. He is in good spirits, and doing fine. Really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all again. He's been out of the OR and on the regular hospital floor since this morning (UK time), currently eating supper and in a good mood.
Looks like this will be more of a process than previously thought, but we are all encouraged and optimistic.
