And it 100% is about politics. One side of politicians thinks it’s the federal government’s job to provide health care/insurance. Step one is require everyone in the country to have health insurance and health insurance companies to sell it to them. The only requirement is that you’re breathing. The political part is, the side pushing for angle payer healthcare is only in it for the votes. Freedom is not being required to pay for something you don’t want simply because you’re alive. You have no choice if you’re a living American. That’s not freedom. That’s not remotely the same as car insurance.

On the contrary, the federal government doesn’t require every breathing American to pay for car insurance. The only people who have to pay for car insurance are those who own a vehicle and drive it on public roads.

Are you doing anything special with the money you are no longer spending on health insurance?

All men (people) are created equal. The government picking winners and losers is the reason that statement was written. The government shouldn’t pick winners and losers, the government should stay out of our lives as much as possible. That’s the entire point.

Your interpretation of “all men are created equal” means that the government decides gets involved where it should not be involved, creating an unbalanced system.

You’re misconstruing the entire purpose of the constitution, which has been bastardized over the last 100+ years and now the government is involved in everything. It protected rights, not granted them. And health care is not a right. It’s something you have a responsibility to provide for yourself, not the government, and the government shouldn’t be allowed to, nor involved in or required to provide, simply because you’re breathing. It is nothing like car insurance, which protects other people from your potential risk. Health insurance is to provide you with care when something goes wrong. That’s why your comparison was terrible.

I have no problem disagreeing with people. It appears those I disagree with here tend to have issues with discussing things on a forum for discussion and can’t handle disagreement. It’s weird.

Our health care system is broke. Private insurance has become so expensive that it has put a real burden on employers. And guess what. When employers pay, it gets passed on to the consumer. Obama made an effort, but compromises were essential in order to get the votes. Republicans refuse to be a part of the solution. They refuse to say that if you can't pay your kid does not get care but they offer no solution to paying for it. They love a good war, funding defense, but fail to fund the VA to cover the cost of treating our warriors but are quick to blame the Drs and administrators because victims have long waiting times.

Our system is horribly inefficient. Was before the ACA and still is. I think we are ranked at about 35th in health care which is shameful. Our health care is the product of political infighting. I will give the Dems at least credit for making the effort, but they got absolutely no help from the R's with the ACA and stll are not getting any solutions, just promises that they will have a better plan but no idea of how to get there.
