For all you tundra owners past and present what are/were your pros /cons -ex gas mileage, durability. I've always owned GMC's but thinking about switching only problem I've ever had was AC compressors went bad about 3 years in on both I've owned brand new. Currently have 271,000 on my 03' but have replaced transmission, radiator, starter, fuel pump, alternator and replace entire AC system back in may 13'. Thanks in advance!

My first truck was an '08 Tundra. Got it when I turned 16. That thing was a beast. I drive a '19 Sierra AT4 now. I prefer the GMC.

I went from a 2009 Chevy crew cab Tx Edition 2wd to a Tundra. The tundra has a ton more room in the cab, both upfront and in the back and more power with the 5.7. The Chevy got a little better MPG, but it’s not enough to really matter. My tundra is a 4WD so that makes a difference too. If I were buying again right now, I’d buy a Tundra over the Chevy. I’ve always been a Chevy guy but Toyota has never let me down.

All the things you had to replace on your GMC won't need replacing on your Tundra. I did need to replace a starter at 168,000 miles.... but that was my Tacoma. I haven't needed to replace anything on my 2004 Tundra. I haven't owned a more dependable truck than my Tundra and I've been driving 40 years.

Outstanding quality. Poor gas mileage. That's it in a nutshell. My Ram gets 28-30 mpg on the hwy (diesel). Got buddies who get low-20s on F-150 gassers. My dad's Tundra gets 15. If you don't drive much and you don't want it to break down, then the Tundra is great. Otherwise the gas mileage really hurts any maintenance savings you think you're getting.

Outstanding quality. Poor gas mileage. Nothing else to add. In our '17 F150 XLT Screw FX4 3.5L Ecoboost my wife gets 21-22 daily back and forth to work and we get 25-26 on the highway and have gotten 27 on occasion.

Outstanding quality. Poor gas mileage. Bought ours in 2004 with 5k miles on it. Replaced 2 water pumps, ball joints, struts and shocks, batts and tires. I do all the preventive maintenance on our vehicles. Had 212600 on it when we sold it last week. I read everything and researched everything I could to increase miles per gallon but no luck. Good truck but As others have stated they love gas.

Just curious....my last chevy truck I spent over 2 grand in one year replacing a transmission and water pump. With gas at $2.25 a gallon how much driving would it take to spend over $2,000 on the extra fuel going in my Tundra?

People on the internet swoon over them nonstop but I never meet those people in real life.
If you dont need a real truck and want a smaller one that gets [censored] MPGs, go for it.

With gas at $2.25 a gallon how much driving would it take to spend over $2,000 on the extra fuel going in my Tundra? I don't understand all the bad luck everybody says they have with vehicles. Through my business I own a small fleet of pickups/trucks from half tons up to F-650's. Chevy/GMC have been the best for us, followed by Ford and Dodge(if Cummins equipped). I haven't personally owned a Toyota but have a family friend who has had trouble with a Tundra and a Tacoma. The only one of mine that has really had any trouble was a design issue from late 2015 on a select few vehicles that they did a recall on and replaced the part on all effected vehicles free of charge. I personally own a 2012 1/2 ton Chevy with 140k and a 2015 GMC 3/4 ton with 90k on it and I've had no trouble out of either one. At 19mpg HWY for the chevy/GMC and 17mpg HWY for the Tundra, basically your first 15,113 miles in the Tundra are burning free fuel because that's how many miles you get for $2,000. But, I highly doubt your tundra gets 17mpg so the real number will be lower. For me 15,000 miles would last about 4 months. For the average American that would be a year. In my opinion, that fuel savings isn't worth it.

So FXfromTX, if I'm understanding what you're saying, based on how much you drive you can save $6,000.00 a year on fuel driving a chevy truck compared to a Tundra?
