We fish mostly submerged timber. We use light wire hooks so they will straighten out but if we use line lighter than about 20# braid, we will break off on nearly every drop. I have no idea how to fish 4-6# mono except on brush piles and staying completely above the brush.

For Crappie, and that's all I fish for these days, 6# and 8# Maxima Ultragreen mono and if I go braid, 20# Maxcuatro, no mono leader. Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500 reels mounted on 2 10' MH Bonehead rods, a 7' ML Dobyns Champion Extreme, and a 7' ML Shimano Zodias. With my 67 year old eyes, it's sometimes difficult to see my line against the water but I can't bring myself to use the high viz stuff - have some, just haven't ever loaded it on a reel. lol

Power Pro Super 8 Slick 10# high viz yellow with 10# H2O Express mono leader. The Power Pro holds its color really good.
