I've got 2-3 Yellow Magic poppers where the feather on the rear treble is long gone. They definitely don't catch as many fish without the feather.
Does anyone know where I can get original replacements? I've scoured the internet with no luck. There is a very old thread on this forum discussing this, but was hoping for more recent info.

Those who are suggesting a non-original replacement, like Owner: have you tried these in the Yellow Magic? Is the action and everything the same as original?
For those suggesting retailers around Fork: I take it you mean these are original replacements.

I make my own Doodads, as Triton Mike Bucca called them the Thad Special, back in late 90's early 2000s. Great thing to add too a bait t get more strikes. PSSST, here is a secret, too. I put them on my Cbs as well and get more than twice the amount of hits and fish than most people get, but do nto tell anyone, as it is a secret. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I guess I am confused. Triton Mike and I started tying them in 1997, first YM I saw was in 2000. So if you are buying the ORIGINAL ones, that doesn't make sense to me, since we started tying them as early as they did, I think. OH WELL, such is life. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
No longer make them for sale anyway. Unless someone REALLY wants some.

Thad Rains I have some older Japanese Lure and fishing machines from before that timeframe. There are baits in pictures of those magazines with feathered trebles prior to 1997.

slim 284,
I apologize about that. I guess I a little afraid of dying. I have had Type 1 diabetes for 27.5 years and have done well with it. Docgors are telling me I have probably 3 to 5 years left, so I guess I am afraid f dying and sending it out to all of everyone that reads my posts.
PLEASE accept my apology

Sorry, I was wrong about how long I have been a diabetic. It is 47.5 years with Type 1. When I got out of the doctors office the first time, they said I would probably live to 38, but they would guarantee that I would die in my 40th year old time line. My grandmother was head Diatision for Baylor hospital in Dallas. She helped us eat the same things I normally ate, but we converted them to carbs, proteins and fats and I have lived that way since 1972. So, the doctors were wrong. Just plain wrong. Goes to show you doctors do not know everything. I was one of the first diabetics to eat what I wanted, within reason to do this. Glad I did it, too. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Thad Rains Not to be insensitive about your situation but what tha heck does your state of health have to do with a feather replacement treble hook for a topwater plug?? You guys don't roast me for asking. I am just trying to see the correlation.

If you read some of the earlier posts, it details why I wrote this. But if you want to know what it has to do with feathered trailers, I worked with Triiton Mike Bucca in thelate 90's tying these things up. We were one of the first in America, to my knowledge to do this I have oer 20 years of experience tying them. I still tie for friends and family at $2.50 per hook. ; I tie all different kinds of colors, even PINK, if you want it. BUT, if you had read the whole post, it might have given you the reason I posted this. Or not, or should that be KNOT? LOL. Feathered hook tier for a generation, or over 20 years. Sorry to upset your apple cart, today.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
Thad Rains
We tied over 25000 hooks, so I MAY know a little about them, or not. Just a guess on my end.

Wow...…. guy wants to know about hook replacements and this thread goes slightly left over who made the first feathered trebles...……….. The irony for me is that two of the guys that I actually listen to when they talk/post got pulled in by one of the other guys that I've enjoyed reading his stuff..

In other news...
Angler's Pro Tackle in the metroplex carries the original manufacturer's replacement feather treble hooks for the yellow magics (both 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz versions).

I replace mine with triple grip regualer shank and I prefer a buck tail to feathers so I tie my own. That said APT has the originals or did the last time I was there.

Yeah I hate to bust your bubble TR but in 1985 I was the Jawtec Rep for ArkLaTex and I was selling the Pop-R's that Zell Rowland designed for a Japanese angler named Azumi. Azumi hand-sanded & painted them himself and hand tied the chicken feather on the rear treble. Azumi wrote his name on each one of them with a single strand of hair. They sold for $30 apiece in 1985.

How long were you the rep? They made a Terminator worm that I caught a ton of big fish on at night including a 13 on fork in 1993 at night. I had bought them from one of the local shops with a worm bar?

Five years 1985 to 1989. I remember the Terminator Worm & Lizard. Caught a ton of fish on it at Fork. The first DD I ever caught was in Aug 1987 on a 3/4 oz jig with a Wacky Craw on back. She went 11.61.
