Looking for info and reviews of Garry Yamamoto's ranch in Palestine. The website isn't very informative and just trying to get some opinions and general info.
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

There’s a 9.54 living in the big lake. Only had luck at one of the ponds. A worthwhile trip though.

Man up? Some folks like a nice, relaxing day on a private pond/lake. Not everyone is a public lake weekend warrior.

Interesting, Didn't know that I could fish his lake. Last I heard memberships were about $100,000. Fin and Feather is down there as well and both are "around" $100k to join. I don't remember the exact price. Most folks who are members don't talk much about it.

I ran Sugoi for several years and can tell you from my own experiences, one day you might catch only one fish and it be a wall hanger, one day you might catch several average 2-4 lbers, one day only dinks and sometimes nothing and that can happen quite often on small lakes and ponds depending on weather patterns. They don't do anything different at BK or Sugoi than any public lake does concerning stocking or feeding, it's Florida strain Bass and forage fish nothing special. Oh they do have some large hybrid Sunfish at BK. Man up? Some folks like a nice, relaxing day on a private pond/lake. Not everyone is a public lake weekend warrior. Like Chris said not everyone wants, or maybe they have some other reason not to fish a big lake/reservoir. Maybe a person is handicapped or has children that are not comfortable around large bodies of water and something like this could be perfect for them.

Steve, I think you're talking about La Perla. No membership required at either BK Ranch or Sugoi.

As for the OP, I think fishing is better at Sugoi Lakes in Mineola most of the time, 2 smaller water bodies, and it has a great lodge but no actual host or cook, you have to contact Yamamoto Inc at Page Az for reservations now I believe since Gary doesn't own it. At BK you might have the possibility of Gary coming out fishing or talking to you, multiple waterbodies of different sizes, plus great lodging just like a bed and breakfast and you reserve it directly through BK.

Wife and I would stay a few days to a week at a time out there just relaxing. Fishing was just a perk. When we stayed there rates were around $100 per night at the lodge and that included fishing. Pretty affordable. About the same price as a Hampton Inn. It was always so peaceful and relaxing there. We still miss going.

That BK Ranch looks beautiful on the website. It is located in one of the most gorgeous areas in all of Texas imo. I would love to go someday-not only for the fishing, but for the experience of being on such a pretty ranch.

Gary & Beverly are awesome hosts and will bend over backwards to make your stay more enjoyable. The lakes are full of bass. Largest I ever caught there was a 7.25 but Gary tells me there have been numerous DD's caught out of the main lake. It is gorgeous and large, about 70 acres I would guess. It has a well defined creek channel running through it with depths in excess of 20 feet. The other lakes are much smaller, 1 to 4 acres. Some have brush, some have, grass, some have pads. All have bass.

Man up huh!!! 90% of the time I go fishing I do so with my 2 kiddos. I would pay money to fish a stocked pond so they have a better chance of catching fish.

Rocky sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the two private fishing clubs south of Dallas in the Wilmer area that are $100k to join. Someone mentioned private fishing lakes being around for 50 years. Actually they have been around for nearly 150 years!
