I did. If I remember right the Bass Champs scale had both fish in the 15 pound range with one larger than mine. But the certified scale for TPWD showed the larger fish to be like a half pound lighter than the Bass Champs weight and the other fish to actually be 14 something? I remember there was quite a discrepancy with the scale. I also think both of those fish died from being in a livewell for a long time.

Josh is dead on. New lakes carry the fertility we need to grow giant bass. Lakes peak in years 8-12, but as the fertility, habitat, and forage age, so does the lakes potential. As you might expect a myriad of things have to happen and there will be outliars to this rule, but new lakes that are 8-12 years old hold your best opporunties in Texas.
