Can anyone let me know of any tips or areas I may want to try Friday evening/night? I will be in Galveston just overnight and am looking to just catch something and have a good time. I travel a lot and never really get to go down towards the beach.

I would go to the 91st street pier in Galveston. Lots going on there. Someone around you will be catching fish. Generally people are pretty friendly and helpful there.
Search the forums for more info on fishing at the pier.
Your best bet would be to hire a guide. fluke25 does surf fishing out of Boliver. His website is greentidesf.com.

Most of the catching has been at night anyway. Most anglers here aren't on the water during the day bc of the Heat. SeaWolf Park is another good location. BTW: Live shrimp has been pretty scarce. Most bait camps are OUT very early in the morning and anglers are off the water by 9am.
