Is there a thought process anywhere to a sit down meeting between all parties including the uncle. My dad was a pretty smart person. He sat all the kids down with a recorder advised who the executor was and who was going to get what. He then asked for questions and ended it with speak now or forever hold your peace.

Good idea but besides the fact that we're scattered all over Texas, my uncle Norb, in my opinion, no longer has the mental capacity or stamina for a meeting like that.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" ― Hunter S. Thompson

Threads like this almost make me glad there is no wealth or inheritance in my own or my wife's parents estate. The biggest fight we'll have is who cleans up her parents hoard of a place.
Family matters like this bring out the absolute worst in people thinking there is something to gain. Usually there is one person that for years "took care" of the deceased and systematically drained the accounts.
I or a rotten to the core "Step Mom" that is the same age of the heirs that ends up with all of the estate.
