Update....the LCRA Ranger called me and we discussed the situation. He stated that he has received several complaints, which came what you all posted worked. He read one back to me and it was like it was copy and paste...LOL. Explained the whole thing and what happened. He stated that only Resorts and other public places get permits to rope off swim areas, not private landowners. What they have is illegal and they will need to remove. I explained to him that I have fished that row for over 10+ years and this is the first altercation ever. I said that has been roped off for years in the past but never been an issue. I mentioned about themetal poles in the water...He stated that that was a hazard and needed to be removed. He also stated, which we already knew, that harassment was illegal and is punishable with a class b misdemeanor. I gave him my thoughts that they may be new home owners and just need to be educated in which I explained that I tried but we know that will not work unless it comes form a 3rd party, and that being the LEO.
He stated that once he visits with them, they will get a warning and will have to remove the items. One thing he did state was that if you should get into a situation again, this lake or any other lake, hunting or fishing, we all have phones, be sure to record the incident either audio or video for evidence and that is all they will need to issue a citation. He also suggested that we keep the operation game theft number in our phone for situations like this, which I do have that number.

Another update.....Ranger called me back last night and he did speak with the owners....they are going to remove the rope and will have the poles removed as well as that will take more of an effort since they are anchored.
My suspicions were right, they are the new home owners, but they inherited it from their father, whom past away. In the first conversation with the ranger I had mentioned that the rope and poles had been there, for as long as I can remember and there were never any issues in the past. The new owners did state that had been there previous years as well, just a new rope now. Ranger stated that the owner had no issues with people fishing, but came out and got hot headed because of our conversation back and forth with his wife. I am sure he was just trying to down play his side of the issue, which it does not matter.
Bottom line, rope and poles are to be removed. If they were not educated before, they are now. If you anticipate an altercation may happen, be sure to record for evidence, otherwise, it is he said she said and there will be no positive outcome from the situation.

.
Good luck to your son in getting the GW job. Highly sought and few positions open every year but a very worthwhile job endeavour.
with Lonestar Law on TV it has made finding a Game Warden job hard. Now they need park rangers which are state police and get the same training as Game Wardens but they just patrol the state park. I know several of the east Texas GW's and there advice was become a park ranger..
