I believe it is an old fish too. Certainly the fish could have had something that inhibited its ability to digest its food but most likely it is just an old fish.

The fish has problems!
Could be age or something it ate that is killing it.
I've seen this before and caught some in the past, and it's not something to worry about unless it becomes common on the lake you are fishing.
