Lake Austin and Lake Travis are patrolled pretty heavily by police/sheriff boats. I know a lot of bass fisherman got in a tiff with them over their running lights. A lot of guys were using big LED type red/green lights instead of the regular ones and were being ticketed. I never understood why anyone would want to add those lights to their boat. Bling I guess. But I also didn't really understand why they would be illegal.

Here in Houston I see Wardens/Lake Patrol quite often. A lot of time they are on bodies of water that have a lot of recreational boater traffic.
But just because you don't see them does not mean they are looking at you from a far.

Being active on your lake/body of water. We the fisherman are need to anomalously report these types of issues. Not to be a A** but to make our bodies safer and cleaner.

The biggest culprits of this in my opinion is the people renting water craft.. The people they rent from arent explaining anything about water safety to them...

Jet fleas do not make wakes or at least their owners think so. I had 2 of them running around inside the bouys at the Dove Rd. ramp on Grapevine while I was tied up to the dock. Wakes almost pu my boat up on the dock. I called them over and gave them what for. To my surprise they were middle aged men. They had no idea they were in a NO WAKE zone and did not know they were responsible for damage caused by their wakes.

It was probably Kenneth Hand. Met him a few times in the early 90s.

The led lights must be Coast Guard certified.

Take your boat out with no life jackets and I guarantee the lake patrol will be there

You get the same treatment ?

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

I've encountered GWs practically all my life. Just like any other profession, there are good ones and some not so good. When possible, if you know you're about to be detained, try to have all required safety equipment laid on the deck, documents in hand, and be compliant. It usually makes for a much shorter and less unpleasant experience. It may possibly even get you a warning for something you may have otherwise been cited for.

That said, the worst GW experiences I've had have been on Hubbard Creek.

Yes, but I had it coming. I did some dumb stuff in college. One incident may or may not have involved a restricted area and a 30+. I've never before or since had that much fun with a crankbait.

I know they patrol Richland Chambers. We were fishing a tournament and we were checked. We were trying to take the hook out of a deep hocked fish on a crank bait. He pulled up and grabbed our boat on the side where my partner was trying to remove the hook. He ask for life jackets which were in the drivers seat and passenger seat whit kill switch hooked to drivers. He ask for throw cushion and I grabbed it, he did not ask for any thing else.About an hour later we watched another launch a boat from a private boat ramp. We never quit fishing and when he took off all he did was wave and headed for a boat out in open water. Had not seen a warden in several years and saw 2 same day on same lake.
The one who checked up was nice but kind of in the way as we never stopped trying to unhook the fish
Have fun be safe
