+1

RayBob, Fork and Lavon. Saw one boat checked on the ramp at Ray Hubbard....too funny.

They had the numbers exactly as in the image with the registration. TX 1234 AA

Idiots at Benbrook this morning were inside the buoys, over the cable and under the concrete structure where the water is withdrawn.

Go to aquilla and you'll get checked, why they are so overzealous to patrol that mudhole I have no clue, never seen one on any of the bigger lakes around here.

We have a GW in the family, they work their tails off. Lewisville is patrolled frequently by GWs and Sheriffs office but I would guess closer to where everyone is drinking and driving boats, Pilot knoll is kind of out of the way. I also know they are more concerned on that lake about keeping people from drowning so they don't have to recover bodies over checking a fishing license. As stated above they are also state police and have to pull some traffic duty as well as rotate through border ops and frequent training. I say thanks for doing all you can GWs to protect the resources, I think you are doing a fine job!

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Theres not enough money to be made checking boats for violations. If it was lucrative, thered be FAR MORE wardens, Marshalls, LEOs, whatever, on the lakes.

As for Fork having lots of wardens, its a busy lake with chances to make money.

If you think its about safety....it aint. Its ALL about money.

The only on-the-water check Ive EVER had was on Aquila. After they kept going and going and going. I gave up. I let them write me a ticket for not having my registration card in my boat. It was in my truck at the ramp. 3 days later, I had it dismissed in Hillsboro. Those two wardens were complete as. They even checked my fire extinguisher for its date code. They even suggested that I have more than TWO life jackets in my boat, since it can safely hold more than two people. I was alone and 75% I fish alone. But....I know they arent ALL like that. Ive met a few others and they are completely normal.

I have been checked on Whitney 2 times in 20+ years, never been checked on Aquilla.

I get checked 1-3 times a year....

But I fish quite a few lakes. Most likely lakes to be checked (for me at least)

Please explain.

My side of the story goes like this. Read the above Aquila story. It wasnt about me being safe or them caring about my safety. It was solely a shake down till they thought they got me for some money. Period. As soon as I told them my boat registration card was 200 yards away, the shakedown was done. Sign here please. Then they left. The boat registration was around 10-12 questions deep on their list. After what lakes have you fished? Did you clean, drain, dry before coming here? Etc. They didnt even care about banging up my boat. Lol. What does having a boat registration card IN THE BOAT have to do with safety. Obviously the boat was current, as the sticker was right there on the side of the boat.

Laws are only made if they can be enforced with a monetary value.

What is your theory? Throw me a clue!

We got stopped on Amistad by Border Patrol. They went through every inch of the boat while I stood at the transom and my buddy at the bow. They insisted that we had gotten out of the boat in Mexico. Had us confused and shaking our heads, we had no idea what they were talking about or what they were thinking. They let us go but they sure thought we were up to no good. That was the first time I've been stopped in 40 years, it was a good one.

My guess is you acted like a know it all a**. So when you didn't have your registration on you. They gave you a ticket. I don't blame them.
