Urban is nuts.
But then most stuff that comes out of cities these days are.
Fishing exclusively at Lake Fork for the last 5 years I have not come across a bass, big or small, that has given it up and jumped in my boat. But a couple of tournaments ago I did hear about one 8+ that did (give it up that is).

Fish are smart enough to just give up because they know you are going to release them but not smart enough to just decide not to bite the lure that looks like nothing natural and get caught to begin with? I've never caught a fish that just gave up.

I have bass fished basically all my life. I use to remember when a 5 lbs.+ bass would put up a good fight trying to get back to its hiding spot after it has been hooked. That was back in the day when we would not only catch them for fun but also for food. Fast forward many years later and I think catch and release has made bass lazy. Before they would dog down fighting for their lives knowing odds are they were going on a stringer and were going to be dinner. Now it seems when you catch a bass it almost runs to the boat and wants to jump in. I feel bass are smarter than we think and its like...GD I fell for this again... might as well swim to the dudes boat and jump in it so he can unhook me, take an embarrassing photo of my stupidity and then hell release me. Im wondering how can I focus on un-caught stupid bass that still put up a fight like they know they are going to die. Any ideas? I think you give the bass way to much credit...or you are smoking so good stuff...

Since the bass that went to the frying pan were dead and unable to warn their buddies of what happened to them, how did the others know?

When they saw their brothers and sisters hanging on my stinger over the side of the boat. I mean really, wouldn't that scare the carp out of you? Now a days these lazy bass get a free cruise ship style transport in a live well to a weigh in where they are praised and greeted like small human babies.

I think the bass. on lake Picachos have the same motivation as a guy who gets on one of those mechanical bulls just to see if he keep from being thrown off......my last trip,I hung about 2lb bass on worm fought him up to about 10 ft from boat, hook came out and he stripped my worm off.... my partner was reeling in a lizard at same time and my fish shot over there and grabbed his lizard.... partner jerks fish in boat and my worm falls out of his mouth.....numerous occasions we would lose fish reeling them in,just pause your bait and they would bite again......either those fish are starving to death or they like screwing with bass fishermen.....
