I mainly target the basic sunfish, however I do catch plenty of other species while "Perch Jerking"! Myself and good buddy Rick Aka Catyakker fished a hill country river and we caught a few nice Common Carp. Five in all. Two of the fish were submitted for water body records with the Texas Parks&Wildlife. The fish were pretty thin (possibly post spawn) but did manage to put up some SUPER FIGHTS especially on ultralight tackle. We caught a total of five and had one that pulled the hook out. The biggest fish was caught by Rick which was 32" in length and weighed 10.35 Lbs. I caught a fish that was 29". The other three fish were in the 20 to 28 inch range. All fish were released to fight again. Fish were caught on worms in 6 to 8 feet of water. Catching a good fighting fish on ultralight tackle. It just don't get any better. fish

Boy oh boy....Big fish on ultra light with 6 lb test. Takes a while to get them in, and keeping them out of the snags is, at times, something of a miracle. Sure is fun. Many thanks to the Banker to show me the way. cheer

Thanks Curtis for the reply. I target carp usually three or four times a year. I have several good spots that are close to home. As for bait it's ether plane old corn or worms! Every now and then doe balls. hooked

Usually fall to early spring right before the spawn. Keep in mind I do not target carp but love to catch them for the great fight they give. On trips that I do target them it is usually from fall up until their spawn. That's just me! thumb
