VERY INTERESTING! Havent heard that rumor!

Thats not new. Years ago, trolling motors use to be 12/24.

That's true, Steez, back when they were about 60 pound thrust at 24 and 40 something max on 12. . But what about a scenario where a cranking or trolling batt goes down and you still have 80 pounds, which is more than most people are using 90% of the time.

It will be a tight squeeze, but I have room for a 4th battery. May be looking at adding Talons/Power poles and just trying to find out if the 80 thrust holds well in big water. On this boat it looks like the 52" will have to stick way out to fit. Anyone on here driving a 191? I have two one year old 27 series Wally world trolling motor batteries currently, and very little space (maybe 1.5 inches) of width to go with a bigger series. If I go with Power Poles (which is most likely scenario) I'll need the extra space for the hydraulics.

I have an 80lb 45 on my 188 skeeter. Its a long boat for its size with a 12 setback and Yamaha 4S. The 80/45 does a great job maneuvering the boat. Its never left me wanting or needing more thrust. I have, however, depleted the Optima group 31 batteries on several occasions. I think the 36v trolling motor is slightly more efficient for a given amount of thrust, but there is the added costs of the troller and additional battery. Not to mention weight. So, I live with the weak motor at the end of a really long, windy day. If I know its gonna blow howling winds, I try to use the PowerPole as much as I can.

I think my issue is really NOT the troller. I think the Optima batteries just are not as strong as other options that are available.

Ive only once wished I had a longer than 45 model. 99% happy with my choice.

Do you really want to be the guy with the first gen Lowrance, Garmin, etc? I sure don't.

The problem with the 52" shaft on the 112 Ultrex will be storing that thing on a smaller boat. Of course you'll love the power and the shaft length but it all comes at a cost.

Thanks Steez!

I have the same boat as Steez and the same Ultrex. Never had a situation where I needed more power or a longer shaft. In fact I don't have the shaft all the way down. I'm using Everstart ( Walmart ) 27 series. Just replaced one that was marked 3/15 and still have another 3/15 that's still perking. Four years ain't bad for a
$85 battery. I'm betting a 80/45 will work just fine for your Legend.

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

Thanks Gig em. I posted on the Legend owners page on BBC to see if anyone with a 191 has the setup I'd asked about. Hopefully I'll get an answer if there's space for a 4th battery AND hydraulics for the Power poles. The only reason I'd go with a 36v is that I'll probably be selling this boat later and would move up to a 20 foot boat and take all the goodies with me. If it doesn't kill the ride/boat performance, that looks like the way I'll go.
