My son got asked by a buddy to join him on a guided trip today on Ray Roberts. These two boys eat sleep and breathe fishing. I understand the guide needs to his clients safety and best interest in mind but the guide cancelled today and said its too windy and the fish wouldnt be biting anyway. Really? I guarantee I can find somewhere on that lake that is protected and I guess fish dont bite when its windy?

If the guide says it's too windy, it's too windy. Would you pay a guide to trailer to and fish one small, protected area all day long? I wouldn't.

I fished with guide last Thursday on fork. 20 to 25 mile hour winds plus raining. He gave me option of fishing or rescheduling. He stated we could fish but not where wanted to fish. We went out wind got up more and rain came in. I paid for 1/2 day and he said would cut me deal in May. I was very happy with his effort and how treated in bad situation. He was more interested in safety and having enjoyable trip. He was top class and will utilize his services again

try taking offshore trips in the Gulf of Mexico. there's a 65% chance at any time your trip will get cancelled. lol. sucks, but safety is a priority, especially with kiddos in the boat. fighting the wind all day for a few bites is just not worth his time or your money. go to the zoo, or the Omni theater, or regular theater and carpe diem!

I am surprised he did not try to get you on the water, after giving some potential options, and setting expectations. Imagine most would say no that anyways.

I understand safety first but dont blow smoke up my butt and say fish dont bite when its windy. Thats about as ignorant as saying fish dont bite when its raining because they dont want to get wet

wth. forecast only says 10-15 S winds. if a guide cant put together a trip in that.... wow. I thought it was going to say 15-25MPH winds. I am surprised he cancelled. must be something else going on behind the scenes.

They're biting, if the guide says they arent you probably needed to get a different guide anyway. A whole wave of fresh fish pulled up with that full moon... I'd give darn near anything to be out there right now!

They might be biting but its much harder to detect. At least it is for me. Id rather not go if its too windy as long as hell do a make up date.

I had a bass trip planned once with one of Forks finest...I was concerned about the wind but he assured us that we could find fish, nothe problem.
We headed out at 730am, rode around in the boat for an hour looking for a place to fish where the trolling motor would stay in the water...
We tried about 3 places about ten minutes at each stop,....finally he took us behind the rip rap on 2946 bridge and says that we'll fish for sand bass
the rest of the trip,...we caught about 15 little sand bass and our trip was cut to a half day...!!! I guess he just needed the money....oh well..
fish

Easter Sunday may have had something to do with it?
