Got to fish a private pond yesterday. The fish were very active compared to a couple of weeks ago. The pond is in great shape and the water was mostly clear. I used my 3 weight the whole time. Fished form 10am till 2pm and caught plenty of nice sunnies. Also caught a couple of bass. Bluegill in 7 to 9 inch range,Redear in the 8 to 10 inch range, and Hybrids in the 8 to 10 inch range were all caught. Had three fish over 10 inches. The bass were in the 3 to 4 pound range and in great shape. Saw a small gar and could not get it to bite. I had never caught a gar on the fly. The fish were in the shallow part of the pond in and next to grass beds. I was using Red Lady Bugs,Brown Salamander,Brown Wacky Worm, and a Chartreuse/Black Beetle. Most fish were released but kept five for the land owner who told me he wanted a fish dinner for the weekend. Always love fly fishing a pond! woot

Plus #1. Also how big is the pond. Seems there is a very good variety of fish there.

Thanks guys for the replies. Chuck: The deepest part of the pond is 12 feet. It's a deep one that is spring fed. Gitter: The pond is a big one. I would say about 50 yards wide with reed beds and a couple of overhanging tree limbs.

That's a nice size pond! You never have to many places to fish. Especially good places.
