Got to fish a private pond yesterday. The fish were very active compared to a couple of weeks ago. The pond is in great shape and the water was mostly clear. I used my 3 weight the whole time. Fished form 10am till 2pm and caught plenty of nice sunnies. Also caught a couple of bass. Bluegill in 7 to 9 inch range,Redear in the 8 to 10 inch range, and Hybrids in the 8 to 10 inch range were all caught. Had three fish over 10 inches. The bass were in the 3 to 4 pound range and in great shape. Saw a small gar and could not get it to bite. I had never caught a gar on the fly. The fish were in the shallow part of the pond in and next to grass beds. I was using Red Lady Bugs,Brown Salamander,Brown Wacky Worm, and a Chartreuse/Black Beetle. Most fish were released but kept five for the land owner who told me he wanted a fish dinner for the weekend. Always love fly fishing a pond!

Pond fishing is hard to beat! Good job Curtis. Do you know how deep the pond is?

Pond fishing is hard to beat! Good job Curtis. Do you know how deep the pond is? Plus #1. Also how big is the pond. Seems there is a very good variety of fish there.

Thanks guys for the replies. Chuck: The deepest part of the pond is 12 feet. It's a deep one that is spring fed. Gitter: The pond is a big one. I would say about 50 yards wide with reed beds and a couple of overhanging tree limbs.
