Little eary for the Dirty-Bottom, but I do miss that wonderful smell of success it gives off! LAke is catching lots of water as I write and will continue. Think by Sun it will slow but the fish will be reallly confused and scatterd. Will think about it and see how Mom is feeling. She had heart surgery last Fri in San Angelo and still need to stay close. Will try and call you.

Thought you might like to know, the river here at JBT has gone from 0.89 to 14.49 and still rising. That puts alot more water in the lake. Hope we get more rain. Happy fishing

Well, Thank You Lord for the rain. Now, can we fish? The USGS says that right now the level at JBT is 2221.97 and it is RISING steeply. It is up from 2220.50 in two days. Thellowest I ever fished the lake was a level of 2215.76 and the highest was 2230.16 (the Big Island was just barely above water).

I hate it, but I think the rising water is not good for short term fishin'!

Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild

Short term, this rise in the lake will have a major effect on the fishing. I was there last Sunday and managed to catch 20 keepers. My usual spots just weren't performing (only had 6 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm), so I tried somewhere new. I found two lonely stickups in this location that were seperated by about four feet of water (plenty of junk in between that wasn't visible). I proceeded to catch 14 more slabs in less than five minutes in that spot and then they just shut off. These fish were in 6 feet of water and were definitely not spawned out. I believe they were still recovering from the storms last Wednesday. This is bound to confuse them for at least 1 week and probably closer to 2 weeks. As long as we don't see highs in the 100s, they will continue to try and spawn until the 1st week in June. I like seeing the rain, I just hate what it's doing to this year's fishing. Just my 2 cents. Good fishin' and good luck to those fishing this weekend.

If I were A fisherman,And wish I were. This rain wouldn't stop me. Now, mind you, I can bait my hook, and catch a fish. My problem is taking that fish off my hook. Have a big problem there. Just keeping an update on the lake, mainly cause I live here, and I'm bored silly since hubby died.Ain't got enough beer to float my boat. River crested, whoohoo
