Not sure where they heck they would sanctuary at. If you dont make 200k a year there you cant afford to live in San Fran. I dont care how many roommates you have. Burger and fries from fast food place is $20. Gas is 2x the price it is here. Think they were paying $4.50 per gallon 6 weeks ago and we were at $2.25. Heard a story on the local news when I was there that a study had shown if you wanted to own an "average" home in the area... minimum salary 300k. And rent? Jensent can tell you. I have another friend there who moved there to work for KPMG from Dallas. She shares a one bedroom with a friend and they each pay $2000 a month! So 4k for a just "so so" one bedroom. I been there. It was kind of a dump actually. She shrugs it off with "well you dont need a car here! So I am saving on that!". True you do not need a car. The BART is pretty solid transportation.

There is some odd tax added on a lot of things. Like at the airport I paid like a 5% tax on top of sales tax that was "Airport workers fund" tax. And at the restaurants saw the same thing but it said something like "Restaurant workers wage act tax".

I dont see that being a good place to sanctuary. I would go to like New Mexico or Kansas or something... where the cost of living was more in line with an immigrant trying to sanctuary.

Very on point. There was a lot homeless in some areas. I mean like it was hard to walk down the street in some areas they are splayed out across the sidewalks. Urine and feces abound in the alleys. And like the article says its not in a slum, its nice high end offices and high end retail and posh hotels...scenic views and cable cars all that and then just these people living in the worst conditions you can imagine.

And they are not harmless. The article mentioned some of them attacking tourists I believe it. Some were verbally very aggressive with me and I am not like a little dude. I am big and will look them right in the eye as if to say "Try me fool. I will not be an easy target".
I am not the one to mess with but they are insane so they dont care. I cant imagine being a child or woman down there alone after dark...sketchy. Saw two of them having an all out bare knuckle boxing match in the middle of a busy sidewalk... beating each other bloody as business men and women just strolled by in their suits and skirts. Wild!

SFPD is everywhere but they dont seem to do anything about or interact with the homeless. Not that I saw at least. They seem to ignore.

BUT thats only in some areas and I still dig the vibe of the city... Looking forward to going back.

Being the 2nd greatest city in California is like being the next to worst neighborhood in Fallujah or the 2nd deadliest gulag in Russia. Not really something you use for billboards to attract tourists.

I had to go downtown to pick up a load back when on the truck, 0200 was scheduled appt. in an alley. I was one block from the giant pyramid bldg and about 5 blocks from bay bridge.
couldn't get in the alley to get to the dock, homeless woman on one corner with shopping cart, idiots vw rabbit on the other illegally parked (would have gladly run over the top of it tho). had to back out and park to send a msg to dispatch that I could not get to the load and lit a smoke. with window cracked I saw in my mirror 3 or 4 idiots jump on the trailer trying to open a door (locked even tho empty) and another jumped on the running board and started screaming at me to give him 5.00 for parking on his street.
stuck a buck knife up one of his nostrils, last I saw he was squirming in the street and screaming, took off and had 3 on back that didn't make the corner when I turned. ended up under the dam street car cables and was waiting for the sparks to fly. made it back to the bay bridge and gtf out of there.
told dispatch I would not go back to the gay bay for any reason at any time. bad enough having to pull a 53' trailer downtown, to have to deal with crackheads and lunatics was a no go.
