Crazy ideas are how new baits get invented. Some work some don't. In 1970 we were fishing in Florida and not having much luck. A boat was approching us down a canal. I got a package of red 10 inch jelly worms as a gift that I thought would never catch any fish. I put one on as a joke and promptly caught a 7 lber then a 6. Dad wanted one and caught a 10.5 his personal best. Of course the boat approching wanted to know what we were using. We thought it was the color red was what they wanted and painted some crankbaits red and they caught fish also. Those red baits worked everywhere. We kept that to ourselves and now red is common on baits but I stumbled on it as a joke. Don't stop trying new things and don't criticize people that think out of the box. I tried putting a sinker 3 foot above a weightless worm to fish it deeper and didn't have any luck. 15 years later it became all the rage You just never know.
Dang. You invented Red Shad worms, red cranks, AND THE CAROLINA RIG!? Hindsights 20/20....should have at least put your name on em. Lol. +1 LMAO

Sometimes you can come up with the craziest idea and it works....I have even heard of guys drop shotting just a 5in piece of shoe string that was soaked overnight in a garlic mixture and catching fish.

Well then I guess my Grand father invented drop shotting. When we would go fishing for crappie we would tie a couple of hooks up the line and had a weight pinched on the end of the line. We added minners to the hooks and caught lots of crappie that way. Awesome....
