I'm not saying this is the case, but I see it all the time on lakes like Fork. Some guy will fish right in the marked boat lanes near one of the bottle neck areas where there simply isn't much room to navigate safely. If you are fishing in the boat lane don't expect me to give you much room. I'm not going to hit you, but I probably won't slow down much either. On the other hand if you are fishing in one of the unmarked boat lanes that most of us have purchased on one of the various chips, I'm going to assume that you don't know you are fishing in a boat run area. I will slow down and go around you as best I can. However, by the time the 5th or 6th boat comes by the exact same spot you might want to consider that you are fishing in an unmarked boat lane. Probably best to move. Again, not saying this is what the OP experienced, but I see this ALL THE TIME on Fork.

The boat lane isnt the right of way or a marked highway. It is just a marked lane that is safe to drive through. Doesnt mean that you have the god given right to run 90 mph through it. I dont fish in them because there are too many idiots that think that they own the lane and you are trespassing if you inconvenience them. It isnt that difficult to slow down when safety calls for it.

Tree grower I dont get your logic or why you get so butt hurt that someone is fishing in or next to a boat lane marked or unmarked. Those that fish the marked ones should expect traffic and not block it. I fish one lane off to the side very often and crush the fish there. Well did until I guess everyone figured out why I was there when they ran up lake and still there when they ran back down lake three hours later. You would have been really annoyed when there was 10-20 boats there last summer. The guys that could give a flip wave and keep on trucking at safe distance. The ones it bothers slow way down and start kicking a big wake while moving closer a little off the main lane. Makes me laugh every time. Usually I am bumping stumps so not sure why they get so bothered. Like Bobby said its not a highway just a clear passage and boating laws apply especially if you end up hurting or killing someone. Btw back in the day, many used to blow through the bridges, in the marked lanes, at fork with fishermen tied up fishing until someone got killed. Your logic is that was ok cause the lane was marked and they shouldnt have been fishing there?

Blocking the one area of safe passage, then getting pissed when someone drives by is the definition of entitlement. Come on man. Don't be that guy!

I don't think we disagree on anything here. Not sure where the whole bridge thing comes from. I always idle under bridges and they are clearly marked as no wake zones on Fork. Stop putting words in my mouth. I'm not "butt hurt" in the least. Not sure where that came from. In fact, I believe your state of mind fits that statement far better than mine.

Apologies you seemed upset in written word. No issues here either. The bridge point had to do with the argument many make, that no one should be fishing in a boat lane. The one navigating has the right to blow by. It all comes back to courtesy and safety. Thats the point. We are all just trying to enjoy or sport and time on the water. Takes the same amount of time to come off plane for someone fishing a boat lane as it does going under the bridge. However, we all know its probably not wise to sit in the middle of the lane at Fork and expect that to happen or its not, based on the comments concerning fishing the lanes, all that wise to try to do so. To many people expect others to conform to their way anymore versus understanding the laws or just being courteous.
