Happens everyday at Fork. I'm beginning to think every spot I fish.must suck. Even this spring out there when lake is crowded I have not had an issue with anyone at all. All have been courteous and respectful. Have not been cut off yet. I need some stress free fishing on Fork. Post your Waypoints. thanks :-) My spots all suck.

The best way I've found to make your point without getting your a$$ whipped or having to whip someone else's is this: Me: Hey bud, do you know how many acres this lake is? Him: 25,000. Me: Any reason you need to fish the 100 yards I'm fishing? Usually they'll either just move on or apologize. Lots of fishermen, just like MANY people who dive cars, are oblivious or just plain ignorant of basics. Sucks but it is what it is.

Sorry but couldn't help myself. I would say handle it the way you feel is best! no matter what you do, someone will find fault in it. I most likely would have invited him to come aboard but that is not necessarily the right thing to do. I am sure it took him a while to get all your line out of his trolling motor. Its no different than road rage IMO! most of the folks that run their mouth like that, outside of those circumstances are great folks....they just let the situation and distance give them a since of security that is not well placed depending on the other parties propensity for violence
Go home at the end of your shift, no matter the cost!

We were fishing a flat area that was on the edge of a stump field. This fisherman trolls right over where I just cast, I asked him what he was doing, my line then hangs up in his trolling motor then he accuses me of blocking the lane and starts cussing at me and threatens to kick my butt. A couple of hours later another boat veers into the field to make sure he doesnt disrupt our fishing.
How have you handled a situation where you are confronted with ignorance? This can kinda go both ways. Sounds like you were blocking the safe boat passage area and someone decided that your fish aint worth damage to his boat from stumps. Was that you on the boat? There was another way to get to the spot he was going to and as you can see from the information I gave, another fisherman didn't have a problem going through about 100 feet of very spaced out "stickups" with the trolling motor. I have gone through a lot worse.

It wasn't a cutoff, we were stationary. We were fishing in four feet of water and he trolled right over the water we were fishing.

Don't let people like that upset you, just keep enjoying your time on the water. Or let them control your life by getting you so upset.

Hate to bring you bad news Coolarrow, but some of those same people fish during the week. I only fish during the week that's how I know. You can still enjoy your time on the water by ignoring them. Time on the water is too precious to let someone take away your joy. There are certain areas on every lake that attract the most anglers. Find other areas to fish and you lessen the chance of having a conflict.

If your in the boat lane expect to get a flyby. I will not but there are plenty of others that will on all lakes.

On the other side of the same coin, we were fishing a tournament on Lake Tyler and the wind was blowing pretty good out of the north. We pulled into a small cove on a south facing bank where we have caught a few fish over the years. There are 6-7 docks in the cove and just as I got up to drop the trolling motor my partner and I both saw a guy come trolling from behind a dock 75 yards away. We both said at the same time, "I didn't see that guy over there."
I could tell he was yelling something at us but because of the wind I couldn't hear him. I asked him what he was saying and this time I heard him yell, "I know you saw me fishing here!"
I pulled up the trolling motor and told him that no, we didn't see him but that we were leaving. He kept yelling that he was headed that direction and that we were cutting him off. Even as we were idling out he kept yelling. I thanked him for being so courteous.

Ha try kayak fishing! Half the glitter boats behave as if you arent even there!
But to be fair that number goes up to 95% when you talk about ski boats...
