I think it's worth pointing out that this is the 2nd polygraph trouble that your boat captain has had. He had some problems at the Wednesday night joe pool event championship polygraph and wasn't allowed to fish those events anymore. I believe his name is Jason May.
On official practice day? I thought the same rules were in effect on official practice days as tournament day except boat captain could fish on official practice day which isnt allowed during regional or state tournament. I guess my question would be if you have a boat why is another guy the boat captain? I know why this is common in our club but know there are a few circumstances where it might be needed.
You may be right as I can't find anything in the rules to specifically support or oppose my own assumption. My bad. Let me know if you find out.
I might be wrong but I assumed (know how that usually goes) the boat captain had to be the boat captain during the official practice day. This is from the itinerary for a regional tournament. Good question that needs clarification though. BOAT CAPTAINS CAN NOT FISH SATURADY APRIL 6TH. They can fish Friday April 5th. ALL RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED ON OFFICAL PRACTICE DAY.

As one of the kids on the 6th place team it was really disappointing to have our season end the way that it did. yes we broke the rule but in no way was it to be looking for bedding fish or in any other way that would give us an advantage. the picture was taken of me and my brother as we idled under the 35-bridge in the picture I am wearing my life jacket and my brother the one some of you all have said was standing is clearly seen squated in his chair HOLDING his life jacket in his left hand because we had just put in at Hickory creek ramp. so yes we broke the rule but in no way was it for us to gain a advantage over the competition. Me and my broth work very hard because fishing is what we love and it sucks to have something like this happen. but this is a lesson we will learn from. Im only saying this because I do not want people talking about me and my brother as if we were cheating to gain an advantage over the competition. The photo was taken while we were pre fishing Everybody makes mistakes. Learn from them. Keep your head up. Im curious...was the boat captain not in the boat on an official practice day? Not a requirement. So he only pre fished for half of the day and we stayed out because he had to work.me and my brother found a school of deep prespawn fish without having my dad there during practice. we finished in 6th. (to make it very clear my dad was obviously there during the tournament) But according to some of y'all shouldn't a 18 and 16 year old be at a disadvantage if they are doing it on there own against "local pros" and guys with years more experience than they do? Im not denying that what me and my brother did didn't warrant the punishment we received. and I'm glad that the rules were enforced, without it the sport could not function, but when rules like this get you labeled a cheater in a sport where honesty is everything its frustrating. And this is a mistake we will not make again.

Thanks for clarifying, thats what I thought. Im not judging you at all but did you read the full rules and the regional itinerary? I only ask so everyone can see the importance of reading the rules. Many team members and the boat captains dont read the info put out. I know this first hand after having to repeat the rules time after time and then having to enforce them after they still wanted to violate them because they stated they didnt know any better.
Unfortunately you had to pay the price but learned a valuable lesson. We all have, part of growing up. Like others stated, keep your head up and move on. I certainly dont look at is as cheating, just making some mistakes.

So, that's straightened out. Thanks for the info. I've never experienced it personally as there's no way in Hades that a kid is going to be in my 250 horse rocket without me in it.

Sounds like we have the same thinking. I still havent let my son, who just turned 18, out by himself yet. Im getting close but havent yet. Hes driven it by himself but I was out on the lake in another boat. His girlfriend came back to where we were parked and said they got it up in the 70s. That was his first time driving it without me in the boat.

I am not sure my dad knew how to drive his boat. I was the chauffeur. He sent me out solo to find out how fast it would run.

I've read and reread the rules. I don't see where "overhearing a guy at work" should be a disqualifiable offense. It's not a barter or purchase violation. If this is really what happened I really question enforcing the rule that way.

I drove my pop's old boat by myself as a teen too. It topped out about 35. Mine is capable of reaching upper 70s with the right driver. It's also capable of killing a driver (or someone else) who doesn't know what he's doing.

Wonder if some of these kids even have a boaters card? Some do. The rules state that they have to have one to assist with boat launching.

The rules include receiving information.
