Fished 6:45a till 1:00p..... water temp was 59� - 62�.....I found myself caught up in trying to sight fish beds.... it's addicting.
Found hundreds of beds with males and females lurking. That's where the good news ends.
I put 11 males on the carpet, nothing over two pounds....had some huge females look at my lures, but no takers.
It was a bit frustrating.
The males bit a white lizard, a GP Pit Boss, and a bubble gum floating bull worm.
Still, better than not fishing.

they will bite just about anything
I caught them on wacky senkos -- green pumpkin, bubble gum, white, 7 w/m red flake / baby brush hog -- w/m red
up in the weeds -- 6 inches of water
next 2-3 weeks should just get crazy.
get there at 4am to avoid the crowds on the ramp

I'd like to fish that lake on a Wednesday sometime. Got to go out there for the first time this year this past Friday, and I've never seen it so busy.

I�ve been there on a Wednesday where they were getting into the overflow parking. It�s insane in the spring.

It was that way every day this week.

I�m sure the posts about HUGE females ALMOST biting help to ease the amount of pressure it gets.

But I will say if you can�t catch a biggun on Athens this time of year you need to take up golf

If a big female will stay there long enough to look at my lure I�ll make her bite it. Wait till she turns side ways and run by her jaw and she�ll bite it.
