I have a 2007 Xpress X19 with a 150 Yamaha and I have a new Basscat Cougar. I told my son just last night that I thought that the Xpress rode better than the Basscat. lol
I love the Xpress. The deck is close to as big as the Cougar deck, it runs 58 with two guys and tackle and I don't feel like I have to wipe it down every time I get out of it. lol

Had a friend (member here) who had an Xpress 19 and had multiple issues with breaking welds on the stringer system.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

That is a good looking aluminum there! Got the Gambler thing going on, huge front deck and 2x4 for the back deck! Never heard of them, looking at the website now.

They make a 21' with a 300? eeks

Depends. I had an X21 and was fishing a TTT on Toledo bend. This was back in 2001 or 2002. We launched at cypress bend park. I was about the 8th boat in line going north when we went thru the cut by the island just north of the launch. Thats when the wind showed its ugly face. Every boat in front of me except 1 let down....we all about speared each other in the arse. After they all turned around I told my non boater partner to hang on. I saw the other boat (it must have been the leader or 2nd boat cause he was way out there already) I punched it and ran north past the bridge, crossed the lake to Tx side and got to my fish. Coming back the waves were bouncing off those cliffs like an ocean....it was a surreal feeling going thru that. Anyways that boat had a Yamaha 225 and I could keep that nose up better than most glass boats could. I did crack the transom welds on both sides and needed an 1/4 aluminum plate welded in but that day showed me my aluminum boat could go anywhere I was able or daring to take it.

What a foolish comment, if you broke the transom then no it won't, you just got lucky to make it back

For those saying aluminum rides rougher and gets blown around more in the wind, you can buy custom built aluminum boats made of thicker aluminum and ride ALMOST as good as a fiberglass hull. Depreciation is next to nothing, and in many cases as price of aluminum has increased so has value of older boats.

Its been several years, but my brother-in-law bought a 19' Scully Hull in Louisiana with a 115 h.p. Yamaha. I used and abused that boat for years duck hunting and fishing in the marshes of South Louisiana. He bought that boat brand new for $13,500 and sold it nearly 10 years later for $13,500.

Design the hull to your exact wants and needs and you will never have to buy another boat again, only re-power when you are ready.

I do prefer the ride in my SX 220 to the rides in the Aluminum rigs I've been in, but I will never buy a stock aluminum boat. There are multiple very talented boat builders throughout Louisiana (I'm sure elsewhere as well, just no familiar with them) that can build much higher quality boats, to your exact specifications.

I'm not a tournament fisherman. I am 12 miles from Lake Fork. I dont have to fish in bad weather. Just bought a used aluminum G3 185 Eagle with a 70 hp Yamaha. Light, easy to pull, easy on the gas, dont have to wax it, no oxidation. It wont run 70 mph either. Im happy with it.

Regards, Bart

I dont think I ever even washed any of mine. Just vacuumed the mess of sticks , grass, dirt, and sawdust out it now and then.

I have a 2018 X-19 Pro with a 175 Sho. I love the ride, doesn't get me wet. Runs 60 mph with 2 people. Big deck. Sea deck not carpet, makes for easy cleaning. Gets in skinny water. Ultrex up front and 2 10' talons on the back. The wind doesn't blow me around. Easy on the pocket book. Dont mind getting in the bushes or stumps. You absolutely couldn't sell me on a glass boat.
