 Sales tax deduction on private sale

In AR. (and several other states) you can deduct sales tax from new purchase if you sell your vehicle within 45 days. My understanding in Texas is you have to trade to a dealer to take advantage of this. If it is the same in Texas I will never do a trade in again especially since I own a Tundra and everybody loves Tundras.
