The jackhammer paid off big time in a C'ship last year for Kim and I. You could burn it over the top of grass without it getting hung up or rising out of the water, which results in more fish being caught. I'll buy them over any other, but the finch nasty runs a close 2nd. All baits made out their are to catch fisherman, not fish.

I spent a few minutes studying the jack hammer compared to the classic zman. Three differences stand out but Id argue only one matters, the shape of the jig head/ bait retainer should have little to do increased hook ups, the skirt setup is difference as well with the tied vs rubber ring in the original.
However the importance difference that matters is the blade. Now without putting a set of calipers on it Id argue its exactly the same blade, the difference is the bend. On the original the bend is slightly closer to the middle, on the jackhammer the bend is further towards the end of the blade. Seems to me modifying the bend could turn you $4 baits into $16 jackhammers...
