Hello Lake Worth Anglers!! Welcome to the 2019 Lake Worth Workingman's Tournament Post!!

We're getting started on Wednesday April 3rd and running through September 4th! Come join us for the only Workingmans Tournament that offers FREE entry to the following weeks tournament for the anglers finishing 1st out of the money, Rivera Tackle and Talon Lures tackle packs for those finishing 2nd and 3rd out of the money EVERY WEEK! More incentives to come... and as always a 2 day Championship in September that only requires anglers to have fished (1) Wednesday night tournament to qualify! Cant wait to get this started, see yall at the ramp!


When : Every Wednesday Night from April 3rd - September 4th 2019

Where : Arrow S Park (820 Bridge Boat Ramp)

Entry : $40 (Includes BB) + a $10 Optional Winner take all side pot

Payout : Pays 1 in 5, 100% of money taken in at the ramp is paid back that night

Hours - 6pm - 9pm Will extend to 9:30pm as length of day increases.

5 Fish Limit -14" Min on everything, including spotted bass.


Dont forget to pick up a 2019 LW boat permit from Navajo Burger... the permit is way cheaper than the ticket!

Lake Worth is off limits on Wednesdays before the tournament!!!!

All competitors much launch from the tournament ramp UNLESS you live on the lake and keep your boat at your dock.

mostly bank fishing but been a few times on a boat. Live in NRH so I am close to this lake

Are there any areas of the lake that are off limits? Nature Center?

Off limits are the areas buoyed off by the dam and by Lockheed. They are marked well. The nature center is NOT off limits, however the order you arrive at the no wake zone is the order you idle up river. There is NO PASSING in the no wake zone, max speed is 5 mph. Also, if you are going wayyy up there you cannot cross under the pedestrian bridge going into the swamp, there is a sign there also that states no entry or no boats.

Is it just two man teams or can you fish a third for extra or multiple teams per boat ?

2 people per boat max, entry is per boat.

What�s up with the winds and Wednesday�s ?????

Wednesday�s event on April 10th will be canceled due to weather. Forecasted winds of greater than 25mph sustained and gusts reaching 40mph. Thanks for understanding and observing our desire for safety of all participants.

It�s called the Wednesday night Phenomena...LOL!

It's looking like this Wednesday is going to be another repeat!

We're not scared of the rain Brent, this weeks tournament is on rain or shine.

Rain no problem.. hail, high winds, lightning, and potential tornadoes... now that�s a different story. We�ll monitor the timing of the line of storms tomorrow and make a call by 1pm whether we will be fishing or not.

Weather man keeps pushing back the arrival time of the storms, we might just get this in... check about 1pm tomorrow for the official decision.

Latest update I received from the NWS service is not favorable... the issue is it wont necessarily be a line of storms we can track, they will just start popping up between 6-8pm. There's no way we can predict if it will be safe to fish in advance of taking off. I hate it, but we're going to cancel tonight's tournament as a result. See you all at the ramp next week.

Looks like we get to play in the rain this week! We'll continue to monitor the weather, as long as the storms aren't severe we'll be fishing!

Hard to believe it, but we managed to get a tournament in last night. We only had 5 boats, Vince and Darryl won with 12 lbs, Clayton and Brad took big bass with a 5.60 and 2nd with just under 9 lbs. See y�all next week, lake is in great shape!

According to the NWS the line of storms tomorrow is supposed to come through West Ft Worth between 10am and 1pm. They should be long gone by tournament time! Y�all come out and join us, the lake is in great shape and the fish are biting!

Yes, just the one ramp off of the Marine Creek and 820 exit. It is just west of Marine Creek rd on the WB 820 service rd.


Well aware of the lake being idle only, so get prepared for the first ever idle speed shotgun start! This looks to have the potential to be a real barn burner of a boat race!

We remain hopeful the lake will reopen by Wednesday!!

I just received word the city is planning on re-opening the boat ramps Wednesday. Stay tuned.

I jist left the ramp.....still closed Buda.

Tonight's tournament is cancelled. Per City Of ft Worth the lake will not reopen until it hits 595 Elevation, we are currently at 595.12, its only dropping 0.20 every 24 hours so it wont happen until tomorrow afternoon most likely. For future reference the SOP for the lake is they close it at 596 and reopen at 595. We'll try again next week.

Is there any thought of moving it to Marine Creek again?

Negative.. may go fun fish MC for a couple of hours since I drug my boat to work today but no tournament.

Is there a website where you find the info on Lake Worth?

Keep your fingers crossed chance of rain Saturday Monday and Tuesday

Unfortunately no. It took several phone calls to get in touch with the specific gentleman that oversees the closures/opening of the boat ramps on Lake Worth. He's a super nice guy but the SOP is cut and dry. Once it goes over 596 they will not reopen until it reaches 595. However if the lake had only risen to 595.5 they would have never closed any ramps to begin with.

Just talked to the Marshall's that patrol the lake, lake will be closed until next week due to the rain expected this weekend

The Marshals dont make that call... but regardless lets all say a prayer now that by next Wednesday we can actually have our tournament.

Lets move it to eagle mountain.

What makes it so dangerous that 1ft makes such a difference?

The boat docks are closer to the water line, causing damage to them from the wakes, erosion on the banks from the waves

If its still closed next Tuesday we'll make the call to move it somewhere else for next week... I can only hope and pray that Worth opens because I dont really fish Eagle Mountain unless forced to. LOL.

You guys are welcome to move these to Friday nights on Ray Roberts.

The lake is closed.... most likely will not reopen before Wednesday evening so we are at a cross roads once again. Its looking like we may have this weeks tournament on Eagle Mountain, yall post here or on Facebook your lake suggestion for this weeks tournament. We'll make a decision by tomorrow morning if we are fishing another lake. So far Eagle Mountain is leading the charge with Lake Weatherford in a close second.

crazy to think that this lake hasnt had much pressure the last two-three weeks

I managed to get in about 3-4 hours on Worth Saturday morning before the storms, water color was good and the fish were eating. Really bummed we cant get out there this week. Looking more and more like Eagle Mountain but will confirm tomorrow morning.

This weeks tournament has been moved to Eagle Mountain due to Lake Worth being closed. We'll be going out of Westbay Marina, same entry and hours as usual 6pm - 9pm. See yall tomorrow evening.

Thanks to everyone that showed up, hoping we're able to get things back to normal and so we can fish Worth next week... if not we'll be right back at Westbay again.

Quick lake report... ITS OPEN, for now, we'll see what happens with the predicted rains tomorrow. I ran all over the lake from the dam to the river, I didn't encounter any floating debris or new hazards. North of 199 some of the buoys are missing on the outside of the horseshoe section of the boat lane, if you dont know better it all looks wide open up there right now. No new obstacles on the idle from the no wake up the river, but man once you get up there the water is ROLLING. I GPS'd 3 mph drifting with the current. Pretty cool down by the dam hearing all that water rushing over the spillway... the current is noticeable throughout the whole lake. All in all the lake looked great and the fish are biting!

We'll monitor the radar tomorrow, hopefully we'll have a window to get the tournament in!

I'm going to play weather man today and make a prediction based on 3 or 4 different sites I visit.... The line of storms will be clear of the Lake Worth area well in advance of 6pm. There may be a little residual rainfall, but the severe threat will be well east of the lake by tournament time. As always I'll continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds this afternoon, keep an eye out here and on our Facebook page for updates. We're going to do everything we can to make it happen tonight.
