I have a Humminbird helix 9 gn1 si. The pixel matrix is 1024 x 600. On the 12" units it is 1280 x 800. I am considering upgrading to the Humminbird helix g3n mega si. will it be a major improvement. I know having the best equipment doesn't put fish in the boat. I mainly fish for Sand bass/ White bass.

The first and second generation Helix 9 has 800 X 480 pixels, same as the Helix 5 and Helix 7.
The third generation Helix 9 has 1024 X 600 pixels.
The Helix 12 has about 6,000 more pixels per square inch= more HD than the first and second generation Helix 9.

so the 12 is quite a bit more money. is the difference between the gn3 9 or 10 at 1024 x 600 much different than the 1024 x 800 ? is it worth the money ?

BIGGER is always better.
It's your decision if it is worth it.
