I have been with Progressive for 9 years and never have filed a claim. A week ago enroute to the lake a leaf spring broke, ruined a tire, and had to use a slide truck to haul me in. The trailer company warranted the springs, replacing both sides, so my cost was labor only. Now I called Progressive and they wanted me to lie! Since I wasn't in a wreck or collision with anything they wouldn't process my claim unless I told them I hit a pothole, curb, or ran over something! Who needs an insurance company that you have to lie to inorder to file a claim, so I'm out $288 slide truck fee, $118 for a new tire, and $465 for labor, total $871.

Try filing under your auto insurance.

No, just decided to drop them when my policy is up for renewal in March. Like I said in my original posts, I refuse to lie to make a few dollars back on a claim. I've been with USAA since 1966 (53 years) and never have a problem with them,

you should go after the spring mfr, they replaced under warranty so they have in effect admitted fault.

Tx. jp court would be best bet if they won't pay, no attys allowed.

bluduck, if you would of had BoatUS trailer assist you wouldn't of had to pay for the tow truck. They will provide truck and/or trailer towing if you break down with your boat. I know I used them when my truck broke down in Breckenridge and had to get my truck towed back to Dallas. Total out of pocket for me was $100 for the trip being over 150 miles. Well worth the cost.

Sorry about your troubles

The reason, insurance is not suppose to be a maintenance policy. If there wasnt an event that caused the damage then there isnt coverage. Them asking you to lie about it is a different issue entirely.
