I have seen 2 boats come off the trailer one at Amistead Diablo east and last summer at Elm Creek at O.H.Ivie. both made a heck of a noise when they hit the ramp.
I always put a strap on mine before I drive up the ramp.

Ever since the Platinum Trail years ago at Amistad and helping 7 other guys put a nice Z20 Ranger back on the trailer after falling off, I have ALWAYS hooked the strap....I'm quick but never again after seeing that first hand.

Its the end of the day and no one should be in a huge hurry. Take a little time to do it right and your day will end well. Get in a hurry, tear up your boat, and those few minutes you saved trying to be a pro will be long forgotten.

I tried at bequest of a fishing partner at 78 years old. Had to buy a new aluminum prop.

Get in a hurry, tear up your boat, and those few minutes you saved trying to be “a pro” will be long forgotten. If you ever fished a tournament where you got up at 4:00 a.m. fished all day and were facing a 3-5 hour drive home but you had to float around in a boat basin for 1-2 hours waiting on your turn to load your boat, you might change your mind about not being in a huge hurry....

I run it up all the way to the winch and then never strap it down until I get home. Saving as much time as I can.....

Pretty good idea. I think that takes too long. Im going to just put Velcro on the trailer and boat and never have to touch a winch, ever.

Power loading your boat causes a wash out at the base of the ramp leading to a drop off. This isn't a real good idea. I take a few seconds to attach the bow strap before I pull out. Never seemed to slow down the line Thats why you always fish the boat ramp. That washout holds a fish or two.

Im usually the last one to get to the ramp....seconds before weigh in, so my boat sets beached for a long time. Then I have to stand around waiting to get paid. Then I get the truck.
By then, its usually late and Im the last to load out. I strap it before I roll an inch.

I will take the 30 seconds to strap it down. The downside is too severe if it occurs.
