I started using 20 lb mono for backing to help cut down on how much line(floro) that I go through. It’s time to re-spool all my rods. Do I need fresh backing too or will the old backing work?

ask yourself the last time a bass had you down to the backing when fighting it.

A little over a month ago, on squaw. Of course it started by casting down to the backing. Haha. Aggressive fish.

I have braid setups that the backing has been on the reel since it was first spooled up.

Fluorocarbon setups have no backing. I use cheap red label line though.

You should use braid as backing, you will get longer cast.

IMO,if your backing comes into play when you cast, you have too much backing. When i put backing on it lasts for the life of the reel. It's only there to take up space so i can use less line. I think thats the thinking of those that use backing,

Don't let the trolls mess with you. You don't ever need to change your backing.
