A few weeks ago I had some issues with being frequently dizzy. I never blacked out but got close a few times, plus a number of times where the issue was just a quick spell of about 5 seconds. After two days in the hospital it was determined that my meds needing adjusting and I came off one and added a new one, and that seemed to do the trick.

But last week the dizzy krap returned and I wore a heart monitor for 48 hours. I also had a log to maintain times, what I was doing and what I felt. I filled up the log and was using margins when the monitor came off. My heart is suffering from bradycardia (beats way too slow), skipped beats and several times where I showed total blocks (electoral impulse types) where just the top half of my heart was firing and nothing in the bottom half.

Bottom line - my cardiologist told me Friday that I need a pacemaker ASAP, so I will have one implanted tomorrow morning. As he explained it, this is a pretty simple procedure and should only take 30-45 minutes, spend the night in the hospital for observation and then get kicked out Tuesday morning.

You�ll be fine. My vertigo was viscous. BP meds were the culprit.

If I was you I would go ahead and make you up a good to do list, I expect that after they get thru tuning you up you will have all kinds of energy.

I was also having those "dizzy" type episodes with a few other symptoms PGR-
I also did the log thing-
Dr put in a defib/pacemaker and it has made a big difference-
Its been kinda weird getting used to having this new lump in my chest, and laying on my side that has the unit in it was a bit tender for a while but not anymore-

The best thing is that NO MORE dizzy spells or "heart issues".
If you get what I got there is a Unit about the size of a C-pap you will beside the bed and the unit syncs up at night and if the unit in your chest ever fires off it will signal to the heart center that you have had an event, I had something happen once and they called my cell phone and asked if I was OK, seemed kind of weird at first but I've become accustomed to it now.
I have a pic of an x-ray that was done last year, I'll see if I can find it.

Here it is, kinda cool now that I�m used to it, and it has absolutely made a difference in a good way-
I have 911 in my chest, I carry it around with me!

Yours is the turbo drive model. All I'm getting is the plain pacemaker model without the defib.

Prayers up for you. After my valve replacement went through 8 yrs. of flutter, too fast, too slow heart rate and a couple inversions. If you have not had it, you can't imagine how wiped out you feel, and how bad your body hurts. The Dr. ablated all but 20% of the nerves to the heart and am running 99-100% off a pacemaker for close to ten years. Will have 3rd one installed within a year according to battery charge. It took me about 1 1/2 years to get to feeling the best I can expect. The procedure is not bad.

I did. It was after they had adjusted the meds and thought I would be good to go. The cruise was great and I had no issues until we had been home for two days!

Additional update!

They kicked me out this morning so I am now resting at home, with a list of dozens of "Things to do and not do" which covers from now until 6 weeks from now. Can't lift much/can't twist my torso from side to side/can't raise my left arm over my head/can't drive for two weeks/etc. Looks like lots of naps in my near future!

The OT has always been such a great group of folks, and I must say "Thank You" again for all the prayers and good thoughts sent my way.
