Thanks for the tips. I don't know much about crappie but just moved out to Lake Buchanan and the cove next to my house looks promising. What size line do you prefer? I'm more of a Striper guy but wouldn't mind picking up a few crappie for the table

Sumfish, I assume you're talking about lake Benbrook. You'll want to focus on the back of coves and up creeks. The fish will still spawn on the dam at the very end of the run.
BrandoA, I use 6-8lb hi-vis monofilament.
Randy Wood, you beat me to it.

I think the only thing I never mentioned in this write up pertains to moon phase. If we get a good warm spell (nights in the upper 50s/low 60s) during a full moon phase, especially the one in March, y'all better be looking shallow because it will be on like Michelle Kwan. Typically, you'll get a small early push during the full moon in February, two major pushes during the March and April full moons, and a last minor push during the May full moon.

Now all the secrets are out. If you follow Lane's advice carefully and diligently, there will be crappie on your line.

Very good info Lane! A lot of people don't realize how early it starts at times. They will say to wait till April but they start in February but in different areas. Saw reports of limits on Palestine of limits of males up shallow after the warm last week we had. Once the water warms, they will move up somewhere.
