We may have visitors. Are they among us ?

I believe the universe is filled with life. Most of it is probably microbial though. Life here on earth developed basically as soon as the planet cooled enough to allow life to even be a possibility. That leads me to believe the "chemistry" for life probably happens pretty easily. That said, after microbial life occurred on the planet a whole lot of nothing happened for several billion years. Complex life on this planet has only been around something like 700 million years. (interesting fact most folks are unaware of, Sharks are actually older than trees). Anyway, the move from microbial life to complex life seems to be a tough hurdle. So, I wouldn't be surprised if advanced civilizations were relatively rare. Maybe as low as 1-3 per galaxy on average. Now of course there are 2 trillion galaxies...........................................................

I refer all things 'alien' to Gusik as his parents are from Alpha Centauri.

Interesting thing to think about... So, where are they? Given the age of the universe the place really should be crawling with advanced civilizations. There's three main possibilities. 1. Life, or at least advanced civilizations are really rare. Maybe we don't see them because we are the only ones in the galaxy. Other galaxies are so far away that even travel at the speed of light doesn't do you any good. 2. Advanced civilizations quickly get to the point they become intentionally or otherwise "invisible to us." Maybe they upload themselves into computers, or they treat us like we treat the people on Sentinel island. A third possibility is a "great filter." Maybe virtually all advanced civilizations wind up destroying themselves before they reach the point they can branch out into the galaxy. Maybe they create AI which kills them. Maybe nuclear war. Maybe some science experiment that goes wrong and kills everybody (think large hadron collider) etc...

The odds are infinitesimal that a lifeform similar to ours exists anywhere in the galaxy.
The sweet-spot for life is very narrow. Very, very, very narrow and to exist in the same teensy moment in time as we is even more problematic.
Tossing out the number of galaxies and possible planets is akin to buying more lottery tickets to win the jackpot...you still have essentially the same odds of winning regardless of how many tickets you buy.
I say nope. Time travel is a more likely explanation.

Complex life on this planet has only been around something like 700 million years. I disagree with this statement. I have live in East Texas my whole life and obviously "chemistry for life" does not happen so easily. There's still not a whole lot of "complex life" here even after 700 million years.....

Just goes to show you you don't got to be a mental midget to be a wacko nutcase.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Of course. Just read the Bible. Bible is fiction. I would not believe anything I read in it.
