Very good stuff there Bob.
I liked Merle's music, despised his politics. Hard for me to separate the two.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Good job Bob! That's the 2nd whiteboy I saw today with a massive fro Thanks, I think my singing made him leave. Surprised the Restaurant manager didn't pay me to stop singing. .I've heard a lot worst singers Bob. Audio wasn't very loud. But I could hear it better close to my ear. Your pitch wasn't all over which most people who don't sing have issues with. Seemed just fine to me.

I liked Merle's music, despised his politics. Hard for me to separate the two. That's why you ignore an artist's political views. Rage Against the Machine are insanely political. They were the bomb back in the day though.

A fiddle and a steel and you're prime time podnah, good job. Good idea. A steel would have been just right for that song! Thank you. Good steel and fiddle players are hard to find. We have a good steel player at church who used to play for Ray Price but the youngun's in the band and choir don't appreciate steel music. Cool that he played for ray price. We had a steel player for a few months. He lives in plano. He was pretty good, but the steel doesnt work with all of our songs. You are correct too about "good" fiddle players. Hard to find. Good buddy of mine played fiddle for Ray Price in his later years... He is on tour with T Byrd now.

Real Country music has just about gone the way of real mashed potato's. Country bands these days use the same instruments as the rock bands so fiddle and steel guitar players are not as valuable anymore. For me, if the country band doesn't have a fiddle or steel I don't listen to'em. I'm just about down to either George Strait or Alan Jackson.

I liked Merle's music, despised his politics. Hard for me to separate the two. Thanks RayBob. I hear ya on the politics. Difficult sometimes. We did a variety of stuff. A John Fogerty Tune, an Eagles tune, Graham Parsons tune, Dolly Parton, John Denver, etc. I recorded all of the songs. I have a Channel on youtube if you ever have some time to kill: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bdavismartin

We have a good steel player at church who used to play for Ray Price but the youngun's in the band and choir don't appreciate steel music. I played with a steel player once who was playing with Ray Price but I can't remember his name. I remember his face and that he was a slender fellow. Other than that I couldn't tell you anything about him. Kind of the way it's always been when it comes to musicians, just two ships passing in the night. Bob, next time you post a Merle song I have a request; "Looking for a place to fall apart". Easy song in A,D, and E. Heck, most of Merle's songs were just A,D, and E.

There's a really good outlaw movement going on right now. Get you one of the streaming apps. Spotify is what I use. It will suggest artists by style. Just start going through the suggested artists. There's basically three categories of country right now. What Nashville pushes. Straight garbage Texas Red Dirt. Which has some good artists. The outlaws. Which is the country I listen to most. If I'm listening to country.

Bob, next time you post a Merle song I have a request; "Looking for a place to fall apart". Easy song in A,D, and E. Heck, most of Merle's songs were just A,D, and E. Great song. Yep, most of Merle's song are fairly straight forward. I learned The Fugitive and Sing Me Back Home, a lot of folks recognize them. Are you still playing regularly?

I haven't played regularly for a few years now. I play all I can at home and enjoy doing so, but... This was a photo from my last gig and hopefully not my final one (recognize the shirt?)
