To me, nothing beats a cane pole with a bobber and a worm (line too, of course). How about you?
On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?
The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Love the ultralight spinning tackle. I fish with a lot of lures and soft plastics and love it. Nothing beats a nice Bluegill being caught on ultralight tackle. Side Note: My fly rod is right up there also!

Dan...Ultra light tackle...6 lb test line...nightcrawlers 80% of the time, but when the mayfly hatch is in form, I love the mepps thunderbug in mayfly color. Also have some success on small jigs & recently had a real good day with the super duper 1 inch gold lure.

I do not target the sunfish but for what I have been reading on this forum it seems that ultralight tackle is what Bluegill anglers are using most.
Side Note: I had a pole about Cane Poles a few weeks ago ! It is in this section.

I find the fly rod to be most enjoyable. I use a 4 wt and if you hook into a ‘gill with some size they will give you a heck of a fight!

Summer time: bobber and red wiggler
WInter: drop shot red wiggler or light split shot above a hook
Both on 6# test using a simple spinning or closed face reel.
I am a rookie at this, though. Used to fly fish for them a bunch a few years ago, and would love to do that this summer again.

For me the most fun is fishing with a float. A quill specifically. The 6 year old that lurks within loves to see that quill slip down beneath the surface. .

Anyone use any of the St Croix Panfish series rods? My wife got me one for Christmas, it's the 5' UL moderate action paired with a Pflueger President size 20 reel and 4lb mono. Super excited to use it on sunfish, crappie and trout. I've taken it with me trout fishing a couple times but have been skunked... itching to put a bend in this baby!

Miggy...I have one that I think is 5 1/2 foot, but I broke the tip off at Fayette last summer & put a new tip on it. It is a super rod, but a little more "delicate" than the ugly styks I normally use.

Hoping for better luck on my tip, already paranoid when transporting it in my car!

I like to use an ultralight armed with a trout fly and clear, casting float. My setup is a 5' Cabelas ultralight, and a Mitchell 308 reel spooled with 4# Maxima Ultragreen line.
