Thats the same day as crappie fest....be mighty crowded.

I've only caught bass on accident. They are delicious and the fat ones are easy to fillet.
No boat, just a kayak.
I may show up anyway just to hang out.

Fork is the most divisive lake to choose, plus its apparently having a tournament. Ill show up that weekend if thats what you choose, but I think a lot of your frustration comes from picking a slot lake that also is extremely crowded during that time of year.
Palestine was fine, not crowded and not a slot lake. Pick something like that.
