As my old job is ending and I am pretty close to locking up a new gig. I am thinking about a new truck. Have had the same one for 18 years.

Want to start researching the sale of the old one.

Sure you can look at Kelly Blue Book etc. but the truck market seems different in Texas.

I have a 2000 F-150 standard cab with a long bed. Bench seat, manual 5 speed, manual windows/locks. It was to be a work (fleet) truck. 4.2 V6. Has nice BFG TA tires. Good condition for its age.

Have all the records on oil changes (Mobil1 every 5k since it was new) and other maintenance. Runs like a champ. Cold AC. No issues mechanically at all. No leaks etc. Does have some dings and a few small dents but looks very clean overall.

The kicker?? Only 94k miles. Like for real. I have the title of course and its clean. I bought it new in Dec of 00.

So what should I ask for this beauty? Dealer offered me $400 NOT trying to sell it here, not time yet just curios on yalls thoughts.

you could sell it yourself for more than $400. I say it's worth $2000

Last March I sold my 2000 GMC Jimmy with 213K mi for $1000.00 and I probably could have gotten more.

It's worth what someone will pay for it. I sold my 1998 Toyota T100 with 145,000 miles on it last October for $3,300. Check out the value on Edmunds and NADA, see how close they are to each other. Be honest about the condition of the body and the interior. Bump up the Edmunds/NADA values by a few thousand and start from there. You can always go down in price if it does not sell.

Thats all I do with it now. But I would like an auto and maybe 4 doors and truck with seats that recline back a bit...Sirius radio I dont have to jerry rig, a back up cam, 4x4 etc. would be nice.

Driving to Falcon or other longer fishing trips in this for me at this point is just not fun.

My first thought was ask $2500 and "settle" for $2000 as is where is.

94k is extremely low miles for a 2000 model. Do a compression test to see what kind of condition the cylinders are in. I'd keep the sumb!tch before I took less than 3400 the way it sits right now.A dealer would be selling that same truck for about 4900.(at least)

I would keep it and just buy. That truck has done you well and there�s no reason to sell it

That's patina. That makes it a $5,000 truck without turning the key.

Wow that thing is rough. $500? And the dealer offered me $400 on my sweet truck that has no rust! lol

But patina is right. If it had rusted more evenly it might be worth more to some of these truck guys who are into that old barn find look.

I would leave that truck as is for 10 more years and do something to get it to rust up more evenly then it would be worth $5k no joke! One of those Gas Monkey guys down the street from my office would buy it in a heartbeat.

On another note thanks for the input guys. I have a good idea of what I will be asking for the mighty Ford in a few months when its time to sell her.

I like the idea of waiting for folks to start getting tax returns and the weather getting better... there are million guys trying to make a living cutting grass and this truck is perfect for that or like work...Or for a kid. Let them learn on a big truck with a manual and they will be able to drive anything they come across the rest of their lives.

Hold onto it for another 10 to 15 years and you can roll it across the Mechum Auction block for about 25-30K.
In 1969 when I got home from Nam I bought a brand new 69 Chevelle and it makes me sick when I watch those auctions and see what they are getting for those cars now.

In this truck market, if it runs it's worth $2000. Yours should bring $2500-$3000.

If it runs and drives it's worth no less than $1500 with a beat up body and windows not working.

I sold a beat up POS trailblazer with 180k miles for 1500 a few years back. Needed thousands to pass inpection....but like you said, if it runs/drives and has cold AC it's $1500 minimum.

I'll give ya $1501 for it dan...

For $400, I'd just keep it for an extra vehicle.
