Good luck. Had a rod blow out of the back of my brothers skiff on I10 between Baton Rouge and Hopedale this summer. Really crappy feeling when we got to the ramp and were short a rod.

Tonneau cover. Get the hard folding kind. Saves a lot of worries in public parking lots and trips to the hotel room to stow your gear if you stay somewhere overnight.

in addition to the rubber rod tie down I also use a re-inforced flat rope strap to hold them down when on the road where I cannot see them when travelling. When in the boat and running I only use the rubber strap.

I have both the rubber and a retractable. The rubber is easier and I'll use both when it gets rough and on the way.
I have had the rubber break on a rough ride before. Its not fun running big water and having a rod bounce out of the boat.
Hope you get lucky and find yours.

Thts what rod boxes are for or truck beds... Richard Head statement of the day Kinda rough way to say it, but I tend agree. Put them where they CANT blow out, and then the rods will make the trip along with you. As for the Richard Head? Its Richard Cranium.

Was on Hubbard on a really windy and rough day and somehow I forgot to hook the rod strap on one side of the deck. Hit a big wave and watched half my rods fly out. That was a bad day. I was so mad at myself. At least one of them floated so I got that one back.
