 Need some opinions - Rod Reel Pairing

Hi - I'm new to the site, but am hoping for some info from folks who know more than me....I picked up a St. Croix Ben Doer 8'6" surf system rod and am not sure on reel pairing. I have a Cabela's Salt Striker 40, but was thinking maybe of going with either a Penn Battle ii 4500 or maybe a slammer......something a little bigger than what I've got.....Thoughts? I'm likely buying online, but might be able to take the rod in to try out a couple for feel and balance purposes. Thanks in advance!

You might try to see if you can find some of the BTB (Beyond the Breakers) on the Texas Kayak Fisherman forum.. those guys might be able to give you some answers on what reel / rod I do know a lot of guys like the Battle, they hold up well. probably looking at a 6000 or 7000 sized reel
