Anyone using the 3D module for their HDS units? is it worth the upgrade from LSS-2 transducer? any better picture quality? I probably wouldn't use the 3D much, but I hear the side and down imaging is better. Anyone have experience with em? Can get the module new for $500, was thinking about trying it, but didn't know if it was worth it or not.

If you have a Carbon, it would make more sense to just upgrade to the Active Imaging transducer.

Ive heard the 3D sucks. Youre better off with LSS2 or Total Scan if you have the room for a giant transducer.

I bought it and dont use it much. Seems like a great tool for offshore fishing in 100 to 1000 ft but in freshwater lakes its no better than traditional sidescan in my opinion.

you will need the module and the 3d transducer for it to work correctly

It's not worth the extra money, only useful in super deep lakes 100ft+

A friend of mine purchased one and has since told me he regrets it. He says it doesn't really do much for him.

Coming from the LSS2 Transducer it does have a clearer side scan and will allow for a better picture at wider ranges.
I do not use it for the 3D down image.
Like stated above, if you have a Carbon unit then it would be cheaper/better to go with the 3-in-1 Active imaging transducer and install it when the update comes out.
If you have a GEN 3 Unit then and you want to spend the extra money then there are benefits. Also, keep in mind that the 3D transducer does need to be used with the 3D module so you will need to find an area to mount the module where it's out of the elements so running power and cables can be a chore. I was able to do it myself so it wasn't that bad.

I have it for the better side scan images. Some guys over on BBC say it provides better images than the 2-1 or 3-1 and will be even better when the 18.3 update is released.

Russell Marine has the 3D bundle (transducer and module) for $500, I was thinking about upgrading, but didn't know if it was worth it. I wouldn't use the 3D feature much at all, really just wanted it for side and down imaging.

BassCat - Im not sure if it will be available for the Gen 3s. From what I understand, the upgraded software and Active Imaging 2-1 and 3-1 transducers only work with Carbons and the new Lives.
