I find the variety of people the death of George H. W. Bush is bring together just amazing. From the beautiful tweet of Michelle Obamas to the standing hand salute of Bob Dole.

Jimmy Carter and Bush were probably the two most thoughtful presidents in my lifetime. May GHW Bush rest in peace with his bride and daughter.

The worst mistake he made was saying, "No new taxes, read my lips". The smartest thing he ever did knowing that he would pay a big price was to go back on that promise as he realized the consequences of the deficit spending. I liked and respected him a lot.

The year was 1984. I was fresh out of college and working my first job. I really wanted to meet President Reagan, but knew I didn't have the cash or connections to do so, if he ever came to Lubbock. So I hatched a scheme. I ran for the almost unknown office of Lubbock County Public Weigher. I never got to meet President Reagan, but did get to shake hands with then Vice President George Bush. This is me between the "W" and the American flag. Side note. VP Bush was standoffish, but his wife Barbara wooed everyone. She was one great lady.
He is truly a sick individual.

Not even close. His greatest mistake and the greatest mistake in post war American foreign policy was not giving massive aid to Russia so that they could join the community of nations as a partner vice a competitor. A trillion dollars spent on Russia then would have saved us, that's the US, multiple trillions and thousands of lives. I'll never forgive him for that incredible blunder.
