Costs too much to launch, hard to find bait.

$20 for me and the boy to launch at the County park.

I have not been to Red's Cove in YEARS because of the awesome <sarcasm> "ramp." Don't know if it is better, but hated launching there back in the day. So, no idea what it costs there.

Might (MIGHT) be willing to pay that much for a launch IF the fishing was outta' sight great. But, I can get skunked for free at Canyon or catch fish with the boy at Dunalp, Placid and Ingram.

Stinks that we live in such a poor fishing area. Id say you might try Boerne lake, but it cost too much and is tm only also.

I'd be out there giving updates, but I'm rebuilding my transom at the moment. Also if you try the park before sunset, or really any workday they don't charge most of the time.

I got my first boat last March, and since then my depth finder has said I've been to Medina on 75 different occasions.

Thats right, I had forgotten. County park is free Monday-Thursday during the off season, come April or spring break, they start chargering every day again.

The reason I don't go to Red's anymore is because it cost $15 a visit and I've arrived out there before and they had a cable blocking the ramp.

I just go to the park now and don't have any of those issues. I've arrived at O' dark thirty and left when I couldn't see the bank. No issues. I also purchase the annual pass for the park because it's a lot cheaper. I'm out there twice a week sometimes during the summer. This year I'll hit 20 years active duty and retire in April. I plan on being at the lake quite a bit this summer.

Went out 2 weeks ago and no luck. Planned on going out this Sunday. I have a friend who went out recently and they said they caught a bunch of Crappie in about 40 ft of water by Joe's Place. Not sure exactly where though.

Went today. Pretty tough....caught my personal best for Medina, approximately 4.5 lb. and one about 8". Bigger one caught on laydown tree in about 13' on a jig. Little guy on drop shot. Seems like a different lake from the Spring/Summer.

Don't give up on her, come springtime she should bounce back with all the water in the lake now. There is a tournament this Sunday, probably won't be a 5 fish deal, but we will see what is caught after all this crazy crazy weather lately.

Debra smile

I agree with Debra- The lake should get really good in mid April heading into summer. We caught some nice upcoming Bass from the stocking a few years back and last year. The lake went down- but not like the mud hole it was years back ! Now it has refilled with all that new vegetation. Water is cold right now but when the temps warm it should get fun. Rio smile

Just a word to the wise, lock your stuff up at the county park. I was there 4 weeks ago and someone stole my transom saver out of the bed of my pickup while I was on the lake. The meth heads must be getting an early start on their Christmas shopping already.
