Heck with the Black Friday shopping madness. Myself and fishing buddy Jeff loaded up the kayaks and took a short trip to Lake Placid. We fished from 9am till 12:30p. The bite started out slow but picked up around 10:30am. Did not catch many but the ones we caught were in the 7 to 9 inch range. We caught Bluegill,a couple of Redbreast, and several bass in the 2 to 4 pound range. Soft plastics-worms,Rooster Tails-Chartreuse/Yellow, and small crank baits worked the best. Water was stained with strong current. Fish were in 10 to 15 feet of water holding by docks and drop offs. All fish were released. We then loaded up the yaks and headed back to Mcqueeney and launched from Jeff's backyard. We fished the canals at Treasure Island and around the lily pads on the main lake. Fished from 1:30pm till 4:30pm and it was slow. Picked up only five sunfish between the two of us and one bass. Nothing big. Water was stained with good current. Same baits were used and fish were holding in 10 to 15 feet of water by drop offs. All fish were released. A day fishing, BEATS a day shopping!

Great report Curtis. Fished Dunlap yesterday and it was slow also. Water was stained and there was a lot of boat traffic.

Other anglers have said it was slow as well on the river lakes. The bite was great this past week. I figured the fish would really be active ahead of this upcoming front.

Shopping now days is meant to be done on-line, at night, with a click of the mouse...days are meant to be spent outdoors...good info on the river lakes from you guys, this fall has really been a different animal from what we usually see. Hoping to get out for a day on Dunlap this week...

Vogey you called it right. This fall has been a different "animal" for sure. Very hard to figure out the patterns. I think the October flooding has played a major factor in a very negative way. Just my two cents.
