Over the years I have seen the impact made on this lake due to these cast net guys. And yes I think they will ruin this lake in the years to come. You use to catch three pound bass all day long with a five or six pound bass kicker, now you catch two pound fish with a four pound kicker if youre lucky. And the shallow bite is almost done for. Even back in the timber area these guys are hitting the shallows. One of these guys has a commercial fishing license, so he can catch these fish and sale them. But I dont think all of them do.

You know those Tilipia they catch with those nets ends up in every cheapy dink restaurant that will buy them... I've seen those guys cast netting out there, and there's no way in the world he has a freezer big enough for them all so he can feed his kids. They're generating income off it somehow.

Unfortunately, those nets end up in the lake too. I pulled one up in the shallows. Another one I have seen wrapped around the boat prop. Poor guy had to paddle back to the ramp.

They are on a good chew on this lake right now. Out in deeper water throwing a jig, drag it ever so slowly and hang on, nice fish bite... I am not the one catching fish, I haven't been to this lake since last year but I know a guide and he has been posting these reports.. Look up Pete Dodge on face book and you can find his web site or just read his post and check out the bass he is catching....

Went out on Fayette Tuesday morning. Not one of the stellar days I occasionally have on Fayette, but was nice to get away from the office.
Boated 16 bass from 7:00 until about 2:00, nothing of any size (mostly 1 1/2 lbs) and they made me work for them. Mostly junk fished shallow, deep, pond dams, intake, discharge...
I will say the one consistent bite seemed to be grass beds ripping a 1/4 oz silver rattle trap (same size as what they are spitting up right now). Could burn it pretty fast and they would still chase it down, morning and afternoon. Drop shot also produced in 12-14' main lake points and pond dams.
