Got a new zx 225 with a 225 sho. Do you guys run ring free only? Does it help with fuel break down or only keeps everything clean. Also best place to get it? Thanks.

I think it helps with carbon build up on the rings. All of my Yamahas I've used ring free 10:1 mix. I know several guys on here say they use other products that is cheaper, but I've always done what the manufacturer recommends. I always buy my ring free at Plano Marine because they treat me like a paying customer.

If you use a lot of ethanol I would use an additive. Startron or something similar. The 10 micron filter helps but if the boat sets up for awhile the filter won't help.

Ring free to keep carbon from building up

Then a fuel treatment if your area uses ethanol

to me its about a month. Maybe a week or two less in the winter, when more condensation could occur. With that said, I believe it is best to let a boat sit with a full tank a fuel.

Got this off an ethanol website.

Gas Expiration - Ethanol Blend Fuels Have a Short Shelf Life

Ethanol alcohol fuel blends have a shelf life of only 90-100 days, under ideal environmental conditions.

When exposed to water, E10 gas will contaminate and should be discarded.

Only 1 tablespoon of water/per gallon will cause fuel to contaminate/separate!

Replace gas in your fuel tank every 2-3 weeks to avoid alcohol and water related engine problems.

Monitor and Test gas for alcohol and water content frequently.

I wish there were more non-ethanol gas stations in Texas. When you go fish in Arkansas you can find it anywhere

Small airports that have a fuel co-op. I hear that AvGas is Ethenol free, small planes taxi up to the pump and swipe their CC, you can usually drive your truck to them and fill up your cans.

Very bad advice. Avgas such as LL100 has lead in it. Your modern 4 stroke will not like it at all, especially the O2 sensor.
