It's an act. I was a camera boat for TTBC and he pulled up beside me before take off and started chatting me up. Very friendly!!!

I have seen both sides of Mike. But what really stands out is his works with youth.

And over the years his "act" has quieted down somewhat. Except when he catches a "giant", Whether it be 2 pounds or ten. LOL

Just like every other reality star. Gotta act if you want to get the clicks/audience. The younger millennial love him and his acting. Just like we did at their age with wrestling. Outside of the ring, those guys were gentle giants, inside the ring they were bad mofos.

These guys that want to name call people speaks volumes of their character. I'm also willing to bet you none of them have ever met the man.

Why you gotta go and throw stuff like this out???? Everyone knows that you don't have to actually "know" anything or anyone to post bad things on the interweb about them..... c'mon, catch up with the times.

Ike in his worst is a thousand times better than the YouTube dung that is all over the net regarding fishing!

Ike has marketing skills that work exceptionally well for him. He�s a beast competitor on the water and has a great personality off the water! He loves kids and people! Met him at Eagle Mountain years ago in the Cabelas topgun tournaments.

Gurantee this is the truth. If anyone actually meets Mike and spends even a few minutes with him your opinion will change. I've been with him on the water and spent time with him off the water and its definitely a difference. Like others have said the time he spends with kids is exceptional.

It�s Ok for y�all to have an opinion on his �antics� in front of the camera. Too much for my taste. No I don�t pretend to know him and don�t make up things about his character.

Ike spent 20min one morning with my 9yr old son back when The Elites came to Lewisville. Gave him stuff and acted as a perfect ambassador of the sport for youth. IMO, he is genuine and a great person. G-g-g-g-g-g-g-i-a-n-t!

He is a fishing personality and has a brand that you can take it or leave it, I choose the later.

I hope somewhere far, far, away from my viewing.

I used to think the same until I met him, and we spoke for about 20 minutes.....and witnessing how he engages with kids.

Who cares, what a friggin poor sport! Has no idea how fortunate he is. I personally wont buy anything associated with him, as much as possible anyway. Just sayin.

That's what I said. IMO an act. Respect your right to not buy it but since I've met him, talked to him and talked to others that have done the same and all have the same opinion. An act!

Ike is the guy that we love to hate. Many sports has these guys, it's their way of getting attention.

McEnroe in tennis comes to mind,...I bet he don't act like that at home.

Iaconelli has anger issues. He goes into it in his book. I'm confident that the excitement part is exaggerated but he is pretty open about handling his rage problems especially in competition.

I have never met the man. Can he be annoying sometimes on TV? Yes, He can. But I have heard countless stories of him spending time with youth and helping them. His act has also calmed down quite a bit. I tend to believe the countless stories. There can�t be a lot of stories of a guy being quality and helping kids and spending time with them if it ain�t true. Just my .02

His behavior may, in fact, be an act.

It is an act Fish and is for promotional purposes. Lot of what the pro's do is acting for the camera and to liven up the show a little. Let's face it, fishing can be pretty boring unless you're the one doing the catching.

No disrespect Fish but that's pretty harsh coming from someone that posts a pic of every 2 pounder they catch.

Love him or Hate him, he makes it much more engaging to watch. I think he is good for the sport. There are TONS of guys out there that can catch fish but they are about as entertaining as watching paint dry.

It's great that he spends time with kids but my opinion is that he should spend more time modeling quality behavior for kids. Whether it's an act or not, his temper tantrums are not a good example for young competitors in fishing or any other sport.

At the Conroe classic he called a local guy fishing probably 100+yards from him an a** hole. If I remember correctly he said "Look at this a** hole over here..." or something along those lines. Before that, he was annoying, after that he is a jerk.

Omg that's mild compared to what YOU AND I have said about people fishing near us, and a lot of the time they heard us say it! lol

Few folks have ever been as turned off by Ike than myself when it came to watching him on BassMasters/MLF, so much so there was NO way I was going to even think about watching his new show. But then my father asked if I had watched (he has no idea my feelings about Ike) the first 2 episodes as he had quite a positive attitude towards it.

It takes a lot for me to say this... but after watching myself, I have to say Ike truly did a great job on the first 2 episodes (New York/New Orleans). He could have chosen to be his usual "Goin' Ike" self, but he really kept himself in check. He was mature, kind, friendly, humble and left me actually saying 'There is a guy I would enjoy having in the boat with me...".

Everyone matures eventually.... Keep it up Mike, I like your approach and unique idea for a new show!

Sure, but I also don�t have fans and young ones who look up to me. He said it on bass live; My main issue with it is how he said it. Not every angler in the world is up to date and follows the elite guys every move and tournament or even knows who any of them are... The dude was just fishing, Ike needs to get over himself.

I was at Disney World in Florida on vacation when Ike was disqualified in the Classic for breaking the light pole on his boat that happened to have the American Flag on it. I think it was in 2006. We saw it on TV and then a couple days later ran into him and his family at Disney. Up to that point, I always thought he was a little over the top, but my young son liked watching him on tv. When we saw him at Disney I was unsure of how to handle it. I don't like going up to people because I'm sure they like being able to enjoy their personal time, but my son recognized him so I said something like "tough break in the classic" and shook his hand. He was truly remorseful and was happy to chat with my son and I for a few minutes.

My opinion of him changed that day. Seems like a truly genuine and nice guy that chooses to handle himself differently that I would, but it seems to be working for him.

So you hold yourself to a lower standard than you do others? Smh...get the log out of your eye, brother.

I�d say based on others experiences and my experiences, Ike is modeling pretty good behavior. Sure, he�s gotten overly passionate a few times about the sport he competes in for a profession, what�s the big deal? You�re saying you want kids to act like robots when they�re competeting and show no emotions? Most of us have never competed for $100k+, so most of us don�t know how we�d act in a stressful moment during one of those events. Everyone releases stress differently. I�d say his contributions to the growth of the sport and the way he acts 99% of the time greatly outweighs the 1% he�s acted like an idiot.

So... After all this .... What circuit is he fishing.... Did I miss it?

and....yelling at the dog to shut the f up at the Classic then coming back and apologizing to him was great entertainment and in the end....that's what we want to be...entertained!

He may be great with kids. But I don't want him in my boat . That screaming is too much for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Id like to see one of those judges turn around and slap him on the head next time he screams out.

I did not think to much of him until i have seen and read all the things he does for kids, if your good to kids your good in my book.
