Help me out fellas. I want to give braid a try. What are you fellas using? Do you have to put electric tape on the spool? What size braid do you use? By braid I mean braid or other superline.

Braided line has its own set of advantages and problems . I wrote a post some years ago. Click here to read it.

I don't care for braid. Too noisy through the guides and it is frequently wrapping round the tip top.
I do like Nanofil however. Very smooth and very sensitive. Handles well. Casts extremely well. It is not as abrasion resistant as other lines but this can be easily managed. I tie a 15 foot piece of Stren mono direct to the Nanofil with a Uni to Uni knot as a leader.
I use mono backing on the spool to conserve the pricey Nanofil. I have found the handling sweet spot on Nanofil to be the 8 to 12 pound test strengths. For bluegill I use 8 pound. It's diameter is much smaller than mono of same strength. Most anglers agree that Nanofil is under rated on break strength. 8 pound Nanofil is quite strong.

Depends on what you want to catch. For sunfish plane old Mono 6 lb test line works great. Braided would probably work better for larger fish such as Blue Cats and Flatheads.
